soon to buy hi point carbine.

ive decided since im out of work now for a while (lifeguard is a hard job to come by in the winter) i better stick to buying cheaper guns.. i decided on the hi point carbine since ive been wanting a rifle and i can get this one for under 200$. im still deciding which caliber to get.. ive already got 5 9mms and 1 40 s&w. I'm thinking i want the extra punch of the 40 but the cheaper ammo of the 9mm.. anyways, who has one of these rifles and can tell me about them.. most of my local gunshops dont carry them but they could order them for me but i would have to pay for it first (which sucks because ive never held one yet)

My wife's uncle has one, and while the Model 995s and 4095s (and if they ever release it, the 4595) are indeed as ugly as you've been told - they look like the result of a one night stand between that hideous folding Kel-Tec rifle and a M1927A4 Tommy Gun - they just shoot and shoot and shoot. They eat anything and everything. Outfit one with a red dot sight and a laser, and you'll have a zombie-scenario SHTF gun that's hard to beat, and one that will give people pause in the case of real SHTF scenarios out to 100 yards anyway.

The only reason I haven't bought one for me yet is I'm holding out for the release of the .45 ACP version, the Model 4595. I'll buy a 9mm Model 995 if I have to, to beat a gun ban; but it's the .45 ACP that I really want. I figure that unless I win the lottery, the Model 4595 will be as close to the Thompson my dad carried in World War II as I'll ever get.

I LOVE mine. It is very very fun to shoot. Whether you are target shooting or just blasting away. And the nine is not all that expensive. Its very easy to clean as well.

why would you want the 45? its about twice as much to feed as the 9mm.. like i said im still undecided if i want the 9 or the 40.. i reload for 9mm but i got so many dang 9mms already i kinda wanted another 40.
also, why not get a real thompson? if i was rich i would have one of those.. they cost around 1000$, but you can still get em.

Oh they have been teasing with making a .45 ACP carbine for years, I got my 995 in 1998 and they were promising it before Y2K hit (but I'm not bitter, just got tired of holding my breath). I am glad they did the .40 S&W, I think that is a great combo. Mine eats everything except some Remington 115 gr +P HP's I've had for some years, mainly likes heavier stuff; 124 gr and 147 gr always cycle well. And 9mm is basically the cheapest centerfire cartridge you can buy, how cool is that!

I have one in 40 S&W and it eats everything but steel case ammo. Accurate as this type of firearm can be. I would buy another if I got rid of this one for some reason.

I love my 4095, and the grandson loves his 995! But they might be hard to find, Hi-Point told me they're having problems with a supplier that can't deliver carbine parts, and it might be next year before it's resolved. If you want one, and know where one is at, you'd better buy it. The two I bought had to be shipped in from another store, the store I deal with was out and couldn't get any more.

And the 4595's? Ain't holding my breath for the release date, but here's a photo of a prototype. They've dropped the chrome trim, thank God.

I just re-read your post, and I'd say DON'T pay for one up front unless they can guarantee you in writing that they can get one. You shouldn't have to pay up front anyway, IMO. How could they do that anyway, until you fill out the 4473 form? Which you can't do until the gun is in the store, gotta have the serial number on the form. Those guns are hard to find, they may not be able to get one after you hand over your cash.

Like I said, that's the prototype of the soon-to-be-(if ever)-released Hi-Point 4595 carbine in .45 acp. At the moment, it's made of unobtainium.

Mine was $236 new OTD. Came with one mag and had tp tighten some of the screws and front sight but once I got it to where I wanted it I have had no problems except it does not like steel case ammo.

LOL! That's not me, or my gun! That photo was emailed to me by the lady at Hi-Point when I called, asking about those 4595's. So that's a HP employee, taken in their plant, I reckon.

i got my 40s&w today but they said they didn't have any extra mags for sale for the pistols. the lady told me the mags are diferent from the pistol and the carbine. so i get home and i pulled the mag out of my carbine and they are identical?? so the mags for the 40s&W will fit both pistol and carbine. i havent tried the .9mm because i sold my c.9mm a few months back but i am sure it's the same with them too. i paid 240.00 otd for my 40s&w pistol with the laser. not to bad. gonna go shoot it tomorrow and try it out.

the mags are interchangeable for the 40 but not the 9. and sorry rondog i wasnt quite understanding. i seen pictures on impact guns i think of the 9mm and 40 version that looked just like that one.. i dont know if it was a special edition one or what but it had a chrome reciever and heat guard.

now that i know they are interchangable i'm gonna stock up on a few . before i tell the gun store owner. they are prettymuch sold out of every mag they have for each gun they have.the only things they have left are the carbine mags for the highpoint and a few m1 mags they have a few ruger 10/22 100 rounders but thats it.

The stock in that picture is the prototype of the new stock Hi Point is getting ready to release. Originally they said it would be out in September.
