My wife and I were transferred to Ankeny for work at Sportsman's Warehouse...
...and we really enjoyed living there!
We were very impressed with the friendliness of the people and the beauty of the area...
It will remain one of our most favorite places to live...

Shoot, I'm from Chicago originally, and when I moved here I was shocked that strangers actually say hello here. I like it here lol.

I live in Ankeny also. I spend way too much money at Sportsmans. I'd spend more if you would drop your bullet prices and get larger quantities. kwg

kwg020,
My wife and I used to live on Hickory Lane...
...in the NW part of Ankeny.
We also used to buy lots of stuff at Sportsman's...
...with our employee option to buy directly from the suppliers at significantly reduced rates.
I also used to buy more bullets at Sportsman's...
...but, as their prices continue to rise, I buy fewer and fewer from them now.
Their powder prices are still reasonable though...
****
We miss Ankeny and the friends we made there; especially Scott and Chris Hill!

I am an Iowa boy stuck out here in Virginia. Really missing my big Iowa bucks. My friend took what he called a great buck, but this deer was only 1/2 as big as an average 8 point deer in Iowa. I have showed him pics from my Iowa hunts and he is drooling all over my pics. He now wants to come back with me one time to hunt a real big buck. LOL

Another Ankeny resident here.
Sportsmans is local and I don't have to pay shipping or hazmat charges. This makes them good for small purchases.
My son bagged his first buck today. I wish I had been there to see it.

I have found a couple of incredible gun deals at the spring gun show there.
When is the next one?

Gun show next weekend at the fairgrounds in Des Moines. I'll be there on Sunday(working Saturday), 11AM. Be there or be square. I would imagine it will be packed, elbow to elbow so may not be enjoyable. I'll see.

Born in Cedar Falls. Grew up in Cherokee and Manson. Been in Missouri since '90. All of my family in Iowa. Still consider myself an Iowegan. All Hawkeye stuff...no Missouri stuff. Miss pheasant hunting so I took up deer & turkey hunting....way different not hunting with a dog and not walking .
