I shot this trophy spike yesterday with my .30/06 Remington 760. a bit of overkill on a 80 lb. deer but he dropped in his tracks. as I was skinning and butchering him 5 does were feeding all around me in the camp yard. don't let anyone tell you that blood scares deer away

Nice deer but I'm drooling over the rifle!!! What caliber is it and what was the range/details of the shot?

The weapon is an Olympic Arms UltraMatch (the old style). The suppressor is made by Tactical Innovations (TAC16). Believe it or not I sat all day and didn't see a deer. Then I went to where the wife was to pick me up. I sat down on a large rock to smoke a cigarette. Right after that two does showed up only about 50 meters down the road from me. I locked in on her and all I heard was the action and the thump of my bullet hitting her. I'm sure there must have been a sonic crack, I just didn't hear it. The bullet hit her in the front of the neck and took out her spine. She went down fast. I was blessed to have her as a lot of folks will have meat from her. Funny thing is, two years ago I got one at 283 meters away and I was smoking a cigarette then too and I don't smoke that much lol.

Below is a picture to help you with the drooling.
