How about a thread for us buckeyes to help each other out to find the best places to purchase guns and ammo!
I live in the akron/cleveland area.
I would say stay away from atlantic in bedford heights its ghetto,
dicks gunroom has lots of guns but prices arent wonderful, gander mountain is overpriced,,,,,,,,,,,,northfield gun and tackle has lots of cool old guns.............arlans gun show is a real good place its out of a guys house in kent he has my highest recomendation........oh yea of course fin feather fur is good especially new guns. What do you guys think and shop at?
Other than gun shows, about the only places I shop for firearms is either Fin Feather and Fur, or The Gun Shoppe in coventry. And as for ammo, it depends on what I'm buying the ammo for. If I'm just gonna blast it away at the range, I'll usually pick some WWB up from Wally World. If it's self defense ammo I'll go to Gander Mountain, Fin Feather and Fur, or order it online from sportsmans guide or cheaper than dirt.
if any of you need a great and honest gunsmith, there is a guy named Brian that works at The Powder Room here in columbus that is awsome, he fixxed my cz75 for only $10 and is currently working on my ak. he has also given me things from the shop for free. he is a great and HONEST guy that i plan on doing lots of buisness with and i recomend him to everyone!
I';ve known Mike (owner) of Fin Feather Fur in Ashland for over20 years - before when he had the small shop up the road. Always had nothing but good service there. Also, he says hello to me every time I'm there and calls me by name.
Worth the 70 mile drive to me.
For Mosins I have to also suggest Arlan's Gun in his garage in Kent. Bought three off of him and all are great!
s for a range, I shoot at the Riverside Range in Cuyahoga Falls. Guns a little high but I'm there to shoot.

There used to be a guy operating out of his basement south of Kent, near the 224/44 intersection, I think. Maybe it was 224/43, though. He sold a lot of high end stuff. I was in there one time and a guy was setting up for a hunt in Alaska, buying all his stuff plus guns for big bears and moose. Was that Arlans, or is he somewhere else?
I'm about 20 miles from the Fin, which sells mostly new stuff with some few older items. I think one of the best things Mike could do would be to convert Granny G's (the former scouting store) into a gunroom complete with a good gunsmith on site. Even with the expansion upstairs they don't have enough room.
There is a pretty good store west of Kidron about 1/2 mile on Emerson, then north about another 1/2 mile. It's pretty big, so hard to miss it on the right among the Amish farms. They have a second store in Charm, too.

I go to Dicks for my range ammo, UMC 9mm is around $7.98 for a box of 50(case price, have to buy a case of 10 boxes), it's always on sale, and 22 thunderbolt was $15 for 500 rounds.
