Question Early BFR's

Im looking for information about DMAX made BFR's. All I can find is that the early BFR was manufactured by them.....

I've got a very early D-Max 45-70 BFR that I've owned for 3 years. In fact I just had it refurbished by D-Max thru Magnum research. What kind of info do you need?

I have just recieved a Sidewinder S5 in 454casull the serial # is 2nd/279. What Im wondering is there any collectable value to this gun, I did see an unfired 45lc advertised for 1800. seemed kinda steep if it is not collectable.

have you done any modifications to yours? I have a little trouble seeing the rear site, it is all black, I noticed that there is a really small groove around the cutout could this have been white when new.

The cylinder had a very faint line around it from revolving and it looks like it has had limited use. when I got it I cleaned it real good inside and out basically hade it all apart NO WEAR could be seen by myself or my G-smith, he had never seen one before.

Mine, compared to a ruger is hands down a better put together piece, the tolerances through-out are 75% closer than a Blackhawk.

any info or thoughts on this would be greatly apreciated

Thanks

The only modification I've made is to take some white appliance touch-up paint & fill in that outline on the rear sight you mentioned. It was not white when new but MR offers a white outline rear sight for $35.00 or so. I decided just to do it myself. I recently sent it back to MR to have the ejector rod replaced as it had seperated from the button you push on to eject cases due to recoil (after a couple of thousand handloads). MR sent it to D-Max and they replaced the ejector rod,re-timed the cylinder, installed a new style cylinder base pin & cleaned it! It was sent back in a new style MR box all at no cost. The original warranty expired 2 years ago but MR still did all this for free. Pretty good customer service IMHO. I carry it in a Uncle Mikes vertical shoulder holster and practically forget it's there. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
