I've got a .40 Springfield XDm, bi-tone. I assume the slide is stainless steel, but it is not as silver as the one on the Springfield web site. Mine has a little bit of a dirty/tan/gold look to it. I'm wondering if it was plated or something, and then maybe some of the Hoppes #9 work some of the finish off...anybody know for sure what the slide is made of and how best to clean it to look silver? Thanks, B

It is stainless steel. On another group, I was advised to use Simichrome to polish it. Didn't have that and couldn't get it nearby, so I used Turtle Wax Chrome polish (also says its for stainless steel) and its a new gun once again. Looks great!
Sometimes something as simple as a wipe down with a silicone rag will do the trick. After I have been carrying mine for a while it starts to dull out and looks like a million bucks when I wipe it down.
