Weatherby Vanguard 25 06

Anyone have a 25 06 in Weatherby Vanguard, and how accurate is it?

Weatherby guarantee the Vanguard to put 3 shots inside 1 1/2 inch at 100 yards.

I know what the guarantee is, and I expect lots better than that. Wanted some feedback from someone that has one.

I have one of the $399 Vanguard synthetics. I can't get much under 1.5 inches with any factory load but it does well with handloads and Nosler Ballistic Tips.

Don't have one in .25-06, but I have a couple of Howas (same thing), they do seem to be very accurate rifles once you find the right load, probably one of the best buys on the market at the moment.

Vanguard 25/06

I have one. I load IMR4831 and 100gr Nosler Partitions. It shoots .6 or so at 100 yds. Two weeks ago I took an Oceola turkey at just under 100yds. Quartering shot , just above the beard through the off-side wing. Never touched the breast. Is that accurate enough?
GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!

I can't comment on the Vanguard but I do have the 25-06 in the Remington Sendero version (bull barrel). My best handloads with it's heaviest bullet is the Hornady 120 grain. A very old (well tested) bullet in the 25-06.

It will shoot all day long into a 1.25" group at 100 yds, consistently, without any flyers. Yes..it will shoot tighter, smaller groups but I like to shoot at least 10 rnd grps esp to see if there are flyers.

I bought the gun for long range work so I can't have flyers. I'm still testing the lighter bullets hoping to find a good 75-100gr crow buster.

The Vanguard prices have always been very good I thought. I've never seen any negative comments about them on any of the forums I've been on either so if you have one or are getting one I'd say you'll like it.

That Weatherby guarantee is premium ammo from other company,s in "NON-Weatherby chamberings,or Weatherby factory ammo in Weatherby chamberings. That is some purty pricey ammo.I find I can match premium ammo with reloads, but can't do much better, but it's cheaper.Killer:That is one sharp looking machine,a real varmint getter. ,,,sam.
