Rossie 20 gauge with 00 Buck???

Hello -
I just purchased a 20 gauge youth for my 12 year old son. We want to hunt white tail. Does anyone have any thoughts on putting 00 Buck through the modified chock?

First, make sure you can legally use buck shot for deer hunting. You can't everywhere.

If the shot is made of lead, no problem with a modified choke although patterns may be better with something else.

A more common buck shot for the 20 ga is #3 buck.

You'll have to load your own as nobody loads double aught buck in 20 guage.

Some #3 will do fine. Just keep it 30 yards and under.

+1 Thats good advice from Andrew. #3 buckshot in 20 ga. will get the deer.

Well, the gun can definitely handle the job

if you can do it in your area. I really enjoy my Rossi 20 gauge rifled slug gun.

Thanks -
I have looked around and #3 Buck seems to be much easier to find. I will setup some targets at our local club and see what the patterns look like at different distances.
