Just remember, federal laws supersede state laws. If that 2009 version on the Clinton bill passes, it won't matter if you live in Nome Alaska or Albany N.Y.

I live about 30 minutes north of Albany, and have 50 acreas to shoot on, and a neighbor has another 80. There are 5 gun clubs with rifle ranges within 20 minutes of my house, and there is a 1000 yd range in Albany county if you shoot Camp Perry type rifles.

Now is the perfect time for Obama to enact some serious gun laws. There is a lot more pressing things going on and that is exactly what he will say, "We should be talking about the economy and instead we are focusing on an AWB that is basically the same that was already passed, we have more important things to be concerned about."

Hey folks, sorry to be be a necro-poster and bring this thread back from the dead, I didn't see an introduction thread like some forums I frequent mandate so I'll just do it here. I'm a resident of Orleans County in the Communist State of New York unfortunately. A prior Marine infantryman, currently doing protective work for the Dept of State (now I know why our foreign policy is so screwed up....) in the sandbox. Alright onto the question:

Ruger Mini 14 Tactical FREE SHIPPING : Semi-auto at GunBroker.com

I've talked with the seller and he is willing to not ship the Hi-capacity mag (A big no no in NY). As far as I can tell, all this has is a flash suppressor and nothing else listed on the NY AWB list (bayonet lug, grenade launcher, folding stock, or pistol grip). So would this rifle be legal to ship in since it only has ONE of the "Evil" attachments? Having a hard time getting ahold of my FFL(s). Figured I'd ask to be safe, you never know how these kooky laws are to be interpreted. I've heard and been led to believe in some places the flash suppressor alone will make it "evil". God I can't wait to move out....

Thanks in advance!

The NYS law uses the same point system as the expired federal law. As long as you don't change the stock or have post-ban Hi-Cap mags, you should be ok. It's hard to say how long that will be the case considering the idiots occupying State and Federal goverment offices.

Regarding hi-cap magazines: They are legal as long as they were made before 9/13/1994. You just have to make sure they are pre-ban mags. When in doubt, ask a gun shop owner; they have ways to tell whether a mag is pre- or post-ban, usually stampings in the magazine material. As a rule, if theyre are none it's a pre-ban mag.

As long as you call the flash suppressor a "muzzle brake," you should have no troubles.
