advice on mk's

hello all. A while back I had a stainless mkII 5 1/2 bull barrel. I really loved it in the begining. I just couldn't any kind of a group out of it. On average 4" groups with fliers at 10 yards. After reading all the raves about it I was very disappointed. I tried a lot of different ammo out of it with no exceptable results. The front sight was obviously canted to the left slightly. I inspected the crown and saw no visible defect. I was shooting two hand rested trying to take as much human error out as possible. It always functioned flawlessly, and really enjoyed shooting it but it just really sucked the fun out of it MAYBE being able to hit a pop can 2 out of ten times at 25 yds. So it went in on a trade at the local gun shop on a smith 15. Now I'm ready to buy a 22 and the mkII is still there right beside a mkIII stainless 5 1/2 bull barrel and I noticed the mkIII has a recessed crown. I was at a gander mountain yesterday and noticed thier kmkIII512 had no recessed crown? I guess i'm just stubborn and don't want to give up on the mkII. I was thinking of picking it back up and sending it to ruger and having the barrel turned straight and the muzzle crown recessed and have it drilled and tapped for scope mounts. If that fails pac lite I guess. Or should I just go with the mkIII at the gun shop? opinions?

I have a MkII 22/45 and it shoots fine. I never heard of one shooting as badly as you describe. Are you sure the sights aren't loose or something? Write Ruger a letter and see what they say.

Smile MK11's

mountaineer: Sir; I'm partial to the MK11's; your issues shouldn't be happening.
Should you get the MK11 again try something clean the barrel very very well. Lead will deposit with some of the different bullets. I returned one of mine; with disgust to Ruger.
My bullets were going through the target side ways. I still have the nice note from Ruger service department. It is and has been my favorite for years.

Consider this before shipping to Ruger. Another option in accuracy; try ''GunTalkOnline" They are "hot'' for the Ruger MK's; and the fellow who owns the site knows his stuff. Like here; they share; and are willing to help.

The only thing I dislike on these Ruger's are they are a PITA to reassemble !! Man, the Buckmark is a dream compared to these.

Just say no to Ruger , for some reason I keep hearing and reading about the QC at Ruger going downhill.

Go ahead and buy a Browning Buckmark. Much more user friendly. Easy to shoot and clean.

Why not ?? There are race barrels available and you can scope it as well. If I am not mistaken, this one belongs to Gandog.

Man, that Tactical Solutions Barrel looks nice!

I would like to spiffy up my Buckmark, but it shoots so good stock, maybe my son will bugger up the barrel then I will have a reason.
