Third Tikka T3 Lite On Order

I just yesterday ordered my third Tikka T3 Lite. My first two were in 30/06 and .243 and this new one is in .270 which I think will fit nicely between the other two. I had looked at many different rifles including the new Browning X-Bolt model and a Kimber Montana which I liked for it's 5lb. 3oz. light weight. After giving it quite a bit of thought I decided to go with the sure thing, another Tikka T3 Lite in S.S. I already ordered a DNZ Products Ded-Nutz scope mount which is what I've used on the other two rifles. I also have a Simmons Aetec 2.8x10-44 on order.

Purchased T3 .308 with laminated stock

I just purchased a T3 SS with laminated stock in .308. Put a silver Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 scope on it using the supplied rings. Looks great. Taking it out next week for the first time.

My next purchase down the road plans to be a T3 Varmint in .223 REM. Proabably not stainless steel to cut costs considering the price of the heavy barrelled model. Plan to put a Nikon Monarch on it with Harris swivel bipod. I actually found one today that came in on trade. Gander Mtn. states it's never been shot, doesn't look look like it either. They want $719 for it. Not bad, but they've misplaced the magazine! I'm going to go talk to the manager tomorrow and negotiate. Found the extended magazines on line (6 rounds for the .223) for $59. So, I figure offering $625-$650 is about right. They'll pull it off the shelf for me if I put down 20%, then pay off over 90 days. What do you folks think.

I use two different loads in it. The first a 100gr. Hornady RNSP over 34.5gr. of Varget with a COL of 2.640". The second is a varmint load using 58gr.Hornady V-Max bullets over 44.0gr. of Varget with a COL of 2.620". Both loads shoot Sub-MOA in my Tikka.
What have you tried?

I shot the .270 for the first time today using a load suggested in Lymans manual with 130gr. Gamekings over 58.0gr. of H4831SC. After bore sighting and shooting at 50 yards to set up the scope and check the load, I shot a 100 yard 3 shot group measuring .79" with two shots in one hole and the third I pulled a bit taking the group to .79". With the scope mounted and a loaded magazine it weighs 7lbs. 5ozs.

I've tried 100gr lapua s/p with several different powders but never had much success. Since then i've tried 80 gr remington and winchester softpoints to similar dissappointment. I've bought some hornady projectiles in 70 grain so i'm going to give them a go and see what happens.
