Cool Add New Mexico to the list

New Mexico also has passed the CCW law. I'm not sure of the requirements or what other State CCW we honor, but we have come out of the stone age.

Looking at the date of the OP it seems like it is a bit late. New Mexico actually passed it in 2005. I just completed my 4 year renewal and it only took about one month from time I sent in the application to receive the new license. Way to go New Mexico! Actually, I read reproduction of an article in the Albuquerque Journal that indicated a CCW law originally passed in 2001 but I don't know what happened to that law or if it ever went into effect.

Here is a link to the actual law and the documents needed to file for a CCW:

http://www.dps.nm.org/lawEnforcement...pleteAct05.pdf

Here is another link that explains the "simplicity" of getting a CCW:

New Mexico CCW Concealed Carry Hand Gun Legal Info

The law is ridiculous enough that I think I will just open carry where ever I go except for the few places I can't carry.

Just read the link and it doesn't appear that getting a NM permit is any more of a hassle than LA except for being restricted to carrying the same type and caliber of gun that you qualified with. Kind of funny, the LA application asks whether I qualified with a revolver, semiauto, or both, but your answer doesn't appear anywhere on the permit.
