3 Pro-Gun Bills Fall Short!

Three Pro-Gun Bills Fall Short in New Mexico as Legislature Adjourns

NRA email message!

Thank You to Those Who Answered the Call to Action!

The New Mexico Legislature adjourned sine die on Saturday, March 21. Thanks to your phone calls and emails, three NRA-backed measures made tremendous progress through the legislative process, but fell just short of the goal line: Senate Bill 608 authored by State Senator George Munoz (D-4), New Mexico’s restaurant carry legislation, and Senate Bill 507 introduced by State Senator Stuart Ingle (R-27), a bill that would have eliminated the two-hour refresher course for certain Concealed Handgun Licensees. SB 608 and SB 507 each passed two Senate committees, the full Senate, and two House committees -- only to fail to receive consideration by the full House due to a crowded calendar on the last day of session.

House Bill 105, introduced by State Representative John Heaton (D-55), the House version of the restaurant carry bill, passed two House committees and the full House -- only to die in the Senate Judiciary Committee, after it failed to reach a quorum on the last day it was scheduled to consider bills.

NRA-ILA will follow up later this week to give you a list of legislators who were key to the progress we made on these important issues the first-time out. We fully intend to pursue similar measures in future legislative sessions!

Cool

We need to find out who didn't support the bills and vote them out of office!

I got in my spring turkey hunt. Didn't even get a gobble. I clearly have a lot to learn. The birds were there. They just wouldn't play with me. I ran across these two guys that had a beautiful bird.

The elk were thick. I saw somewhere between 40-45 cows and one velvet bull. I think they were all migrating to Mt. Taylor for the summer. I was a little suprised that I didn't see any calves. I would have thought they would have been dropped by now. Also, oddly enough, I didn't see a single deer. I know deer numbers are declining but spending 6 days total, hunting, not counting scouting days, and no deer, that's alarming.

To all, go to Sprotsman's Warehouse in Albuquerque they have semi-auto Sigs, Bushmaster and DPMS available. They had 13 to 14 on display!

I have been told no, by the wife!

Sportsmans is still open there? I thought the company went bankrupt? The sportsmans down here has closed its doors and it was a top selling store.

Sportsman's shutdown good bit of the stores. I had a temptation to purchase the SIG rifle for $1100.00 Trying to get the pic, the sigarms site does not have it. It is same as the desert, different hand guards and design!

I know the Las Cruces store closed. The one here is still open. It sort of looks like one of those old Soviet era stores with nothing on the shelves. They're constantly rearranging what merchandise they do have in an attempt to make the store look stocked. They used to have an end cap that was nothing but .223 and 5.56 ammo. They now stock it with airsoft ammo. Cracks me up.

Scary view is, it is across Albuquerque - Shooter's Den has .223 68gr and 50gr ammo; but, 2 box per customer!

9mm, .38 and .357 is on empty!

Ron Pettersons has some bulk MilSurp but I haven't checked the 9mm stuff.

Shooter's Den is always nice for the 5.56 NATO rounds... Ron Peterson's has it too, but it's up to $15/box there. I haven't found .45 ACP anywhere recently. I have some 9mm rounds for which I no longer have a gun to shoot them out of. Ron Peterson's is always good for Mosin Nagant Ammo... while they put a two box limit on all the other bullets, they still are able and willing to sell MN ammo by the case. Something like $6.79 for a pack of 20 Bulgarian surplus.

I did the round-about today after shooting at the range. I have shot the new 9mm Glock 19 only once since firing in the base sponsored 2009 Shooting event today. I am way out of practice. It was only 1 box of 9mm; however, with the supply near zero in the market place. I have become very cheap on shooting with not replacing what I have.

Today, don Peterson is flat out of 9mm, .357 and regular .38 ammo

Sportsmans had alot of .308 and sweet looking 50 BMG Armalite for 3800.00 however, the main site sells for 3195.00

The price tag on that 50 isn't too bad. From the site anyway. The only thing that would hold me back is the cost of .50 caliber ammo. Even to reload it I would have to get a special press and the components are not that cheap either.

I agree! The cost is the primary negatiev factor!
