need help on 7.62x39 ammo

In your opinion, whats the best stuff in 7.62x39mm? I've heard Bear(brown, silver, etc.)is alright and then some people swear by Wolf. What are the advantages and disadvantages of both? And other brands too, Sellier & Bellot, Yugo surplus, etc.? I know I ask alot of questions similar to this, so I appreciate your patience.

I've been firing the Wolf military classic thru my AK and SKS. For the money, I think it's the best. It's non-reloadable but also non-corrosive. Yugo ammo will have corrosive primers so cleaning is paramount. You decision will be based on value, corrosive vs. non-corrosive and whether you want to reload or not. That's how I judge prices.

I shoot mainly wolf. I would try anything that is non corrosive. Just don't like the idea of having corrosive ammo when other alternatives are about as cheap and readily available.

Of course the best is going to cost you a bundle the best made in my opinion is corbons 125 gr jhp but they are gonna set you back $42.99 a box of 20 . If you just want plinking ammo I like the wolf 122 grain jhp . You can also get some romanian surplus that is non corrosive is brass cased and reloadable but it will cost you 149 per 500 on gunbroker its pretty good also. I dont shoot corrosive ammo either but I cant really say I have ever shot any 7.62x39 that didn't preform to expectation.

Yes, I know. But we were made to eat roots and berries but I prefer Prime Rib.

I have no problems shooting corrosive ammo in my Mosins or any other bolt rifle, single shot or pump. It is just the semi autos that I am picky with.

What about brown/siver/golden Bear? It seems to be cheaper than Wolf(about $25 for 100rds). Also I'm not into reloading. So a little help with purchasing would help more. Thanks for all the feedback by the way!

Shot a deer with Wolf 154 gr. soft tip last Sat. It's still dead. Seems to work. I'll let you know if the outcome changes.

Its not a great deal if your wanting to hunt with it but not to bad for target shooting ..Remember stripper clips arent worth all that much money..If it includes shipping I would buy it..If not I wouldnt..

A word of advise on ammo!
I think in a few months or even a few weeks the price of ammo will drop back to where it was so I for one am going to hold tight with what i got.

the firearms industry is inflated right now because of the election. It's the dealers gouging people. It's like gas, it'll come up and go down with time. And there you have my opinion!

prices

I agree, people are panicing right now. If you wait just a little and the panic stops, the prices will come down. The Demos will have there hands full trying to work on the economy. You'll be able to buy stuff at a decent price soon. There probebly will be at least 1 year window. Then buy lots to store.

Prices go down? I'm still thinking of people passing 40 dollar Mosin Nagants waiting for the prices to go down.

But then people weren't panic buying like they are now. In this atmosphere prices go up quickly. Watch after January, if the prices don't stabilize or drop down. Then get concerened.

I've shot Wolf, Brown Bear, and Golden Tiger. They all shoot the same in my SKS and AK47. Right now I have about 300 Wolf Military Classic(polymer coated hollow points) and 900 Golden Tiger(lacquer coated FMJ). I hope prices do come down because I want some reloadable ammo. My brother just got set up to reload 7.62x39 and offered to get together whenever I had some to reload. My advice is buy whatever is cheapest and non-corrosive. I like knowing that if it's necessary, I can shoot my rifle and put it aside for a month without loosing the barrel.

From my understanding the brown bear silver bear etc... are all made the same company as wolf just imported thru south america I think because of trade rules.
Least thats the story I got at the local gun store meeting of the minds.
