So I reload for my Steyr M95. I get Hornady 205 grain .330" soft point bullets from Graf And Sons, but I have always been a little bit nervous because I have never seen these bullets anywhere else, not even on Hornady's web site. So I sent Hornady an email, and asked them what's up with that? Found out Graf And Sons special orders them, and they are the ONLY place to get them. Hornady won't sell them to anybody else.
So what if Graf's stop selling them?

does anyone know of a reloading manual that covers the 8x56R both cast and jacketed bullets? How about the 100 gr Lebel bullet? If I could find a manual that included the 8x56R & 6x45,I could be as happy as a hog in a mud puddle!
Handloads.com has some info.Read somewhere about resizing jacketed .338 bullets to .330,think he said he used a Lee sizer the ones for cast bullets not shure.Was also told to slug the bore for a perfect fit to inprove accuracy.Would be worth looking into.I think I will cast mine.
Hey gandog, ck with these guys: Welcome To Buffalo Arms Co. They carry several different weights for the '56R. Another option is to resize 338 bullets down to .330 or .329 using the Lee size and lube die in your press. Supposedly, the Speer Hot-Cor's work best for this.
I see Buffalo has 150, 170, and 200 gr hunting bullets for the 8x56R. That's cool, I love 150 gr for deer, but where would I get loading data for that? (I have 3031 on hand)

Use .30-40 Krag data for a starting load and work up from there.
OK, I followed the leads and found a bunch of good info. Grafs.com sells brass for $56/100, ammo for $27/20 (205 gr SP Hornady), and bullets (205 gr SP Hornady) for $33/100. BuffaloArms.com sells 150 gr SP bullets for $37/100, and 175 gr and 205 gr for a bit more. I received an old Lee guide for the 8x56R. I also received guidance to interpolate from the 7.62x54R and the 8x57 Mauser because of their similar cases and loads. Indeed, the Lee recommendations fall very close to both of those. When I compute the recoil expected the 150 gr and 175 gr loads surprisingly come out very close together and a bit below the 205 gr loads. Both are also under .308 figures too. Ballistics for the 150 gr load should be approximately that of the .300 Savage, maybe slightly better. The 175gr load should approximate the .303 British. In either case they should be good deer loads out to 300 yds.

Except with my C&R license holder discount from them I get the bullets for 27/100 amd th cases for 42/100.
Just thought I would throw that out there as another reason to get that C&R license.

I just talked with the USA importer for PRVI. He says they have loaded 208gr SP (.329) 8x56R ammo on order, but it hasn't arrived. He suggested I call back in 30 days. He gave me no internet links to track. He had a sample box on hand. I pressed him for a price and he suggested it might be about $15/20 but that is not firm.
Apparently they are wrapped around the axle with 223 and 308 orders caused by panic buying.
