Scope mount for 500A

Anyone ever tried this mount for the 500A?

The problem I have with a receiver mounted scope mount on the M500 is that when you remove the barrel you lose your zero. I’d rather go with Mossberg’s cantilever mounted to their slug barrel. It costs a few more clams but once you’re sited in, you can remove and replace at will w/o loss of zero.

I'm not planning on using slugs. Wasn't really planning to buy the mount either. Buuut I'm curious. If I did anything I'd put a red dot for buck shot.

Yup. I used this mount on a Mariner a few years back w/an Aimpoint red dot. Being a see through mount, whatever front sight you wish to use will be visible.

My bad. I thought you wanted it for slugs although you didn’t say that. Since you are going to limit your range using shot, a red dot should do fine. I would still go to the range, test fire several shots, find the center of the pattern, adjust the red dot to that center, then test how taking off the barrel and replacing it will affect the point of impact relative to your point of aim. I’d do this several times so you get a feel for it. If you’re always within a couple of inches at say 25 yards then I’d feel fairly confident in the system if you’re going to use it for self defense (or anything else). You may also want to repeat the test using several different brands of ammo and/or loads (2 ¾”, 3”, buffered vs. no buffered, etc.)

Thanks for the input guys. I'm not planning on buying one now, but I like keeping my options open. I love red dots and like knowing I can put one on my shotgun if/when I decide to.
