I'm thinking about purchasing an XD, and havn't personally fired one yet. I'm left handed and was wondering if there are any leftys out there that own one of these pistols. Are the controls comfortably compatible with left handed shooters? Thanks.
I had an XD-40 and an XD-45. Got tired of fighting it being a lefty so I sild them and bought S&W M&P's. Much friendlier for us leftys!
If you do buy one, I've got a Galco Matrix 7x holster I'd part with for $15.00 (including shipping). Used some but still good shape.

Maybe I'm not a very good shot and therefore I've got poor standards, but trust me I shoot well enough that if I want to fill you with holes, you will leak a lot of bodily fluids. That being said, I shoot with either hand, with my left arm having an artificial shoulder, and my XD40 is the only pistol I have that switches from one hand to the other with no discernible difference.
I love mine. Sure the slide release is a little difficult but I just give the slide a pull and let her go. The mag release is ambi and there's no external thumb safety (unless you buy one with it) so I say go for it. By far my favorite handgun. Mount a tlr-1 on it and you'll be able to shoot at night.
I'm a lefty and have been shooting the same gun you are for a long time. I totally spank with it. I have had a couple of changes to it by Tactical Technologies, www.tacttec.com. It's a good solid pistol, I use mine in IDPA and USPSA matches.
