Are there other survival communities out there like ours?

A group of guys and myself are involved in a club, we own a piece of a very large tract of land in Kentucky, it offers us a bunch of nice options including a gun range, airstrip, gas well, and great terrain to defend against a invading force of people. We have a community gardening area, creek, pond, and all kinds of stuff, every owner has rights to the rest of the land. The way we did ours was each person owns a deeded lot with deeded rights of use to the rest of the land for hunting, geocaching, use of gun range, use of airstrip, and so on. If you know of anything else out there like this could you fill me in on what they are doing?

Yeah we hunted for a place since 1998 for the Y2K and found one it has been a uphill battle putting in everything. We have a limited amount of owners which was determined but land use and the ability to live off the land and all. We own a whole valley end to end. It's about 260 acres but we own rights to another 600 acres which is something that goes a long way.

I think Mike(guy in charge) said there are like 8 or so lots left. I don't know. I do know they are $4990 each lot and are deeded but we have some bigger lots to build more perm homes on as retreats. Little lots only allow for primitive cabins and camping. I got a 4 acre lot for like $20K but I financed it through the guys. Was a good way to do it, 20% down and the rest over 10 years at 7.5% fixed. They don't finance the basic lots just the 1/2,1,& 4 acre lots, not sure if any of them are left. Well I am looking to find something like this within 300 miles of the one I am with now so I can get another place and have a place to fly to if things get to bad at home....

If someone is doing something like that in washington or north Idaho I would sure as hell like to join. Twenty like minded people working together is better than one.

Looking for the same in Texas. The local section here will prove to invaluable. A group of people will be more secure. I built three fish camps down by the San Marcos river, and have worked out agreements with the owners, just in case.

Hunting rights with membership, $5000 buys hunting rights to the whole, rights of use to the gardening area, rights of use to the airstrip, and a primitive cabin/camp site. I think they have a $15000 lot that is 1/2 acre left and it is for a regular sized cabin.

Very cool Prepared2Surviv! If I hadn't been displaced from Lexington, KY to VA Beach, we'd likely be talking. As it stands, we are working on something of that sort on the eastern side of the Apps.

God speed in your plans!

When you buy the porperty, buy a dozer and tracked bobcat with a backhoe atachment these make the work of getting things right quick and easy. We found a JD 450 for a dozer and a 983 bobcat with a track conversion on it. Both have been well worth the price.

i wish you all the luck in the world with your small community. but anytime there is a person in charge problems will arise. i hope this is not the case, but my paranoia will definately keep me from joining a community

One thing I always see, and I am not trying to be mean or insulting but its the truth, is that 90% of the people bragging/explaining their supplies and set up are overweight. I don't get it, if you are going to spend hundred if not thousands of dollars on gear (which is usually really cool stuff) why not spend the time/will power on keeping in decent shape? All the great gear in the world wont help you hike it 20 miles a day.

Along the same lines as LcpMartin, I'm sure it's not your intent, but this is coming off somewhat as a real estate sales pitch. Nevertheless, I applaud your preparedness and forethought.

I'm in the real estae biz, and like others have said it seems like a sales pitch........... But I kinda like it.

I've known other land flippers who have done similar concepts but on a larger scale and not survivalist oriented. 2-5k acres. Each person buys a membership and has equal rights to land, hunting lodge, timber harvest, etc.

The memberships were more limited and much more costly. This is kind like an every mans shtf plan.

i agree wholeheartedly with this statement. with a community, especially one with a group of survivalists, someone is going to want to be the leader, and decisions made by one that aren't agreed with can cause friction and stress in the group. nothing worse than that when everyone's armed to the teeth.

as an ex-marine, i keep prepared. we have an 80 acre plot of land in northern michigan with all the supplies and support needed for me and my relatives to survive pretty much anything, but that's as far as it goes.

people seem to think that if government/society collapses, it will be every man for himself. that's never going to happen. the willingness of neighbors and friends to pull together and cooperate when certain stuff hits the fan never fails to amaze me. as i said, i keep prepared, but i have faith in people as individuals.
