I love fall and winter gardens because beating the heat makes it easy to enjoy the work. Also I lot root veggies and hard leafed plants. Cabbage, turnips, chard, beats, some carrots, and spinach. We have a community garden in a valley that is protected from most things so growing is great. Anyone else enjoy winter gardening?

I've always had bad luck with carrots for some reason. I can make anything else work but carrots never turn out for me.

How do you keep stuff from freezing? Even the cold weather stuff freezes.
