My first was a TAC16 for my AR15. It took the longest 45 days of my life. It started me on stamp collecting (I'm planning a build for a .308). What make/model did you go with? You are about to enter into an addiction that will not end. My only advise to you is that if you're not into reloading, start and start soon. Those suppressors love to eat. And deer season has never been the same.
I had a friend that sent off for his SBR license, it took him bout 4 months after he sent it in, but finally got it approved.
Silencers are alot of fun, a friend of mine has a Sig 220 with a gemtech on it and its great for shooting out at the range with no hearing protection. Also, 44 mag rifles with silencers are great for hogs.
I sent in the paperwork today for my Silencer! I'm starting with a .22 cal then working my way up. I think I'm going to enjoy 'stamp collecting'
Future plans include:
5.56 Suppressor
7.62 Suppressor
AR15 Style SBR
and others...
What all did you have to do? Paperwork? Finger prints? Anything in the fine print that would waive your right to warranted searches, as the FFL licensing does?

I am not entirely sure. I set it up as a trust so no fingerprints or LEO sig. Just filled out the form, signed and notarized my trust and filled out a declaration of citizenship paper.

I'm not sure I know what you mean.. Can you explain why no fingerprints etc.? What type of trust? Hate to bug you just really curious. I've been putting this off for a while.
Indeed trust is the way to go. You set up a revocable living trust then buy your suppressor with that. I shortens the timeline by about 30 days. Do a google search for setting up a revocable living trust. I think their is like a 20 dollar program call e-will or something like that.

Also most class 3 dealers will do the trust paperwork for you for minimal to no fee if you don't want to fuss with it yourself. I think my class 3 dealer offered to do it for me for 20 bucks.
Ridiculous slow HA....a few years ago it was taking up to a YEAR to get the transfer done.
The current waits are a little longer than what is now considered "normal" because everyone and their mother invested in NFA before the election of the current Gun-Grabber in Chief. My last transfer took approx 3 months from the time they cashed the check. Currently waiting on 2 stamps for a MG and silencer. Be patient grasshopper....
Quicken Willmaker is the easiest and cheapest (that I know of) program to set up a Revocable Living Trust. Be sure it is for 2009 as the laws constantly update. Transfers to a trust bypass the requirement for the CLEO signoff, fingerprints, photographs and background check as well as a decent amount of the paperwork. I will never do a transfer as an individual again. IANAL and YMMV.
