Florida resident with an out of state driver's license

I have been talking to a friend who wants to become Florida's newest gun owner. She asked me to help her select a gun. She lives in Florida and has for about a year. The potential problem is she never transferred her driver's license over to Florida. She has a years worth of pay check stubs and can produce a lease showing she lives here. Does anyone know if she will be able to buy a handgun with an out of state driver's license by producing a lease and pay stubs?

I think by Florida Law, it is required to get a Fla. License within 90 days of moving there and becoming a resident,so , she needs to get a Florida License if she lives there as a resident...Unless she has some other Photo ID with a Florida address, she will be refused to purchase a Handgun...

If she's been living there for a year as a permanent resident (as opposed to, say, a college student), she needs to get her driver's license changed over to Florida from her previous license ASAP. Most states require you to change over within thirty days of moving in from out of state. I had to talk my way out of a ticket once when I got stopped for a burned out taillight just after I moved here. I'd been in-state for 6 weeks and hadn't changed my license over because I couldn't get to the DMV when it was open. Ended up having to take half a day off work to get it dealt with and stop by the police station to show them the new license before they'd drop it.

Not sure of the time frame (I think 30 days) but she MUST get a FL DL and a FL tag for the car.

Most people do not do it to save on the impact fee and having to get insurance. If there are still states out there that allow you to drive without it.

If she has a concealed permit/license she is required to show both it and PROPER IDENTIFICATION to a LEO. There may be some head scratching and you know what happens when there is head scratching. She may or may not have issues purchasing a gun if she has all of the other documents showing that she is a permanent resident of Florida but the Drivers License should be changed over asap if she is planning on sticking around.
