No news from the police and did not see anything in the news that had a similar story.
Freewilly57: Thank you I have one of those I got last year I am going to get replaced or repaired this week.

| 2MuchJustEnuff ... I must admit, I would have responded to that "encroachment" quite the same. My guess is that the men in the vehicle were looking for a single, female target... and that it has happened to others in the area/County.
Do you have a dog? Do you have an alarm system? Do you or your wife carry concealed?
Contact me via PM for further...

They sure did leave in a hurry. She needs some protection when your away. If they get past her they get your rifles, too. Sounds like they are watching. A drive way alert and a loyal dog. Signs posted? If you have power down at the gate install a sensor light and a game camera.

A few solar powered motion lights would not be a bad idea either, I have a couple that have suprised a few people, they don't seem to like to have lights on them when they are not where they should be...

As far as lights I have a street light I pay the power company on every month which is right above where my wife parks and lights the middle of our property pretty well.
Then I have a personal one mounted off the top of the barn that picks up inside the power companies lighting perimeter so there are no unlit spots around all of our parking and the front entrance and one side of the barn.
I need to put new motion sensors up because I took the old ones down when repairing rotten wood and the lights never turned themselves off so I am guessing they are junk. Basically just need a couple new ones.
This House was built in the 1800's so there isn't power run everywhere I'd like as in the all corners of the house. I am not great at running wire and we live paycheck to paycheck so I am not going to be able to hire someone to run power to the real weak links but I will figure something out.
Deersniper, I have heard about the game cameras, how much are they and how many pictures do they take before you have to reset them or add film etc?
Getting a driveway sensor this week but last one went of non stop with all the damn squirrels around here and my neighbors sharing a common driveway and worst of all (actually a GOOD thing except for "security" false alarms) my neighbor is the captain of the fire department so he can trip it anytime of night responding to a call
Once I am up gun in hand looking for the source I can just about FORGET going back to sleep too

| ... I'm not sure how plausible this is ... maybe ask the PD or Sheriff to check on your property randomly given the obvious threat to your wife ? IF anyone is watching your house and suddenly see random police patrols, they may hunt elsewhere.
... just a thought. ... I do agree, this whole issue does not pass the smell test.

| Cheap alert system
I would imagine with a little redneck inginuity you could rig a door bell on low voltage wire with a automatic garage door opener sensors at a guaranteed pass point along your driveway i believe both of these are run on low voltage wire so i might not be too expensive the sensors are pretty cheap i think, that is probably the cheapest quickest system i could think of in the 3 minutes it took to read this thread

Two good size dogs will keep any strangers out of your driveway and definitely in their cars.
My parents live in a farm in VA and no one dares get our of their cars until my parents come to escort them in. Their dogs are about 80lbs each and bark at anything and everything thats a stranger to them. On the plus side is that they're both two big ole puttycats that just like to bark.... but not everyone knows that.

tws135boom,
Hey thanks man those look like something I could get into or should I say "git intuh" love the cheap "redneck ingeenewittee" heh heh
Seven,
Yes I would love to have some big dogs but my first one who lived 14 years was a mix Chow Chow and almost got me sued a couple times he never broke the skin (more like a clamp) but would do one "bite" to stop some of the idiots that came up on our property even though no trepassing signs had been posted.
My latest dog was doing good until this total scuz bucket looking guy shoed him off (we have no leash laws) a couple weeks ago. Was a sweet dog and if you stepped on even an acorn on the property he would bark and locate you. He was just a pup but was learning fast on commands and would never leave the property except when I drove my daughter to elementary school and then wait on me to come back by.
That guy (alias Mister Scuz Bucket) did something to him as he sat in his yard waiting for me (he ran up and said it was all his fault) and I never saw him, just felt a horriable shake and bang in the suspension on my dually.Ran right under the back wheels on passenger side.
Okay bummed myself out again. Was a good dog. He showed up here with ribs poking out and abandoned.Least he had a couple months of being loved on by me and the kids.
Okay off topic

I'm Sorry to hear about your dog^^. If i was you i would go to the pound or animal shelter and find yourself a good, BIG, dog that you can keep chained up outside somewhere to alert you.

Now why would ole Scuz run off a perfectly good dog? Hmm. At least you are by the Captain. He probably has protection. Try to find out what happened to the pup or get a German Shepherd. Did any body get a license number? Hide that game camera so it will get the plates. Some of the newer cameras should upload to a computer. A light could shine instead of a bell. You can get a nice color camera system at Harbor Freight for around 60.00. A safe room, a closet, say upstairs or down stairs with a locking entry set, with different keys, so you could escape and arm your self. My closet has an attic access in the ceiling and a ladder to get out a skylight that opens onto the roof. Two way radios, give your neighbor one.

Well it says I have 2 PM's but I only see the one about contacting the local Police Department for patrolling.
Is that the one?
If so I just have very little faith in them unfortunately.
My tractor was stolen years ago and I never heard one word back on that and got nothing but a copy of the report. Then when these super agressive sales people practically forced their way into our neighbors rental house (that we own) and I could not get them to leave short of shooting them the Deputy took over 45 minutes to show up (I am NOT kidding).
The last straw was when these kids destroyed a car I was doing a frame off restoration behind my barn. The kids found the body and broke every piece of glass, bent off all trim, bashed in the panels and even cut a hole with an axe through my roof.
I caught two of the culprits who gave up the other names and the deputy rounded them all up with parents on my property. The worst kid in the group still had his hands covered from all the cuts he had and ALL of them then denied it.
This was a car that 728 of them were made (1972 Buick GS Stage 1 455 car) the deputy made them promise never to come back on my property since no one would admit doing it and then we all PRAYED!
I am not against prayer but PLEASE! I lost my whole damn car! Arrrrrrrrrr
Sorry to rant but I have a real bad taste in my mouth over these issues,
I will probably only call them when I have someone at the other end of a gun barrel to make sure the job gets done.
Look what they did to my car (the dents in the trunk were from the a/c compressor they threw into the trunk to get it open). Although they went past all my no trespassing signs they probably thought the car was just a junker since the frame was in my barn getting sandblasted and epoxy primed but STILL! Yeh, lets pray about it. Man!

Deersniper,
The guy said that was the dog "over there who jumps the fence and comes in my yard to do his business" I knew the dog he was talking about and she does the same on our side and looked like ours but was not the same dog. He still had a right to run him off though as it was his property

First, seeing what those punks did to that car makes me sick, second, those kids should feel very very lucky to still be alive... Third, I have had very good luck with solar power for the remote security equipment, that and radio sensors that can transmit back to your house to alarm, as well as some solar powered remote cameras that transmit the signal back to the house on a wireless network and are recorded on a computer. People think I'm paranoid with all the low light cameras, lights etc.. I have on my property, but I've not have one lick of problems, EVERYONE in the area knows my place is very very well protected, that and the fact that I am a member of the NRA and love my guns.... For some reason the neighbors seem to respect the fact that I shoot my mosin in the back yard ( I do have Lots of property).....

freewilly57 Thanks man, yeh makes me sick too believe me. Only "good" thing that has happened is the Special Responce Teams ((SRT) that raided one of those now 16 year old "kids" (4 years after my car was trashed) house a few months back.
Heard this loud explosion (guess that was something to distract them in the rear of the house and then a Silverdao crew cab slid into their yard with SRT guys bailing out (also had them in camo in the back yard along with cover smoke.
Turns out they (including the damn "Mom") were dealing cocaine and pot. The hauled off their pit bulls and all of them that were in the house (about 4 of them at time) while all of us normal neighbors looked on all happy to see SOMETHING happen.
They got out in a couple days and have been out (along with dogs) ever since then, we keep looking up their court date on line and they keep getting it post poned.
Fortunately I have a row of houses between them and me and about 100 yards of land but can still here them cussing each other out and raising total hell on their frisky nights!
The neighborhood is mostly middle class working folks though and these guys are the exception but some of these kids with no Dad at home to teach them respect for property and all sure don't help the honest ones of us trying to raise a family and have a couple nice toys.
Looked out there one day and the kids I caught in my back property building a fort were beside my barn. I had told them I'd be cool if they were.No smoking,no leaving their trash back there at the fort etc.
What were they doing on the side of the barn though as I told them that was off limits (rest of my cars up there)?Well, One of them had his jacket wrapped around his fist and was just standing there like he owned the place bunching out my barn windows while his buddy watched.
Hauled him down to his single Moms house and the boyfriend swore to spank the mess out of him while his Mom begged me not to tell the police because he was already going to court over busting the window out of a parked ambulance!
They moved shortly after that.
Soooooooooooooooo as far as being paranoid I have no problem doing everything and anything I can afford. I do have lots of those black and white surveillance "TV's" from auctions if I knew what to hook them to and all.

| Perfect Country Song!
I woke up laughing about all the junk this post has reminded me of happening around our place and rememembered the joke a friend told me.
Being about 1/2 redneck I can get away with telling it too.
What do you get when you play a country record backwards? Secret message? No........................
You get your dog, your wife, your job, and your trailer back!
I have most of the ingrediants for my own song here though Stolen tractor, damaged barn, favorite car a total loss,Mama hauled off to jail (okay the neighbors mama) dead dog, and bad guys threatening my family.
Actually might need a TWO album set for all that!
Anyhow all of you who have been patient enough to read through all my problems and make suggestion I just wanted to say Thank You.
Been some good suggestions and I am just going to have to see if I can do a few simple one's of them as money allows. Over half of the stuff on my laundry list of troubles came while we were in a battle of Stage 3 cancer my wife was fighting and Thank God she is still here with me and the kids even though some of my stuff didn't make it due to the bad guys.
I now have a little lawn tractor my Mom helped us get,my car is still trashed but I have a possible parts car to repair it with "some day" windows in the barn are still gone, the dog ("Snickers") we lost is gone but got loved on a bunch while we had him verses the slackards who abandoned him and like I say our family is still intact.
Going to have to beef up security around here but I can tell you it is tough as I am so far behind on this property and the Doctors bills still have us on the ropes. When I get overwhelmed this bad it leads to not little things just getting done but NOTHING getting done and I have to work hard to get over that mindset. One of my many character flaws.
How do you eat an elephant though? One bite at a time..............
Anyhow thanks again for taking the time to make some great suggestions guys and I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.
It will all work out

Well, after all that, I don't know what to say, I've been thru way too much dealing with cancer in my direct family to even mention. I'm glad to hear that your wife is at least doing well. I will keep my eyes open for any parts I happen upon for that GS, if I get some I may need to contact you to find out where to send them, Since I'm also a car nut, got my own wreck to redo "some day" however, mine was not vandalized like yours has been. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year, and if you need help figuring out any of those cameras etc.. Let me know I may be able to help, I'm pretty much a Jack of all Trades.... Been there done that...
