I bought a used 500a an it don't have a plug in it. It didn't come with one,can some one tell me were to get one at or the length an diameter of a wood dowel rod to make my own.
i used a 3/8 dowel rod.i cut it at 9 1/16 in.i then coated it with boiled linseed oil to try to keep it from swelling in wet weather [the duck blind can be a damp place].a friend bought a plastic one and he could still get four 2 3/4 shells in the magazine.he threw it away and went with the dowel.
ricstone...I lived in Dexter, MO from December 1945 till August 1948. Haven't ever been back...maybe sometime, though. I've lived in NW MO in Gladstone, MO since 1965.
My dad had just gotten out of the Navy and my parents bought a new two bedroom home directly across what was then the only high school in town.
The reason I've found your post is because I'm looking up information on Mossberg 500 A shotguns. Just bought a used one a couple of days ago and need to learn a lot more about it.
I see that it's chambered for 2 3/4" & 3" shells. And...it labeled as a 12 GA-28", Accu Choke gun.
Bought it at a gun shop in North Kansas City for $200. It's condition was nearly excellent...probably not been used very much...and definitely taken care of. Might have been $25 over priced...but I'm happy with the deal.
Dealer threw in a plug and a choke tool, too. It came with the modified choke installed.
