Ok thanks for the info. I noticed that when I went there to buy my gun and the range was full of people with cameras and so forth.

Ok here is an article from the Review Journal pertaining to the shooting park. It kinda makes me mad when it has been in planning since the 80's and the county put out more than a dozen notices in the year and months leading up to the park's construction.

I don't know where they are getting their info. The EPA issued a certificate of recognition to the shooting park.

It is only stall tactics. They are trying anything and everything from preventing this park to go through. They know the county is in financial trouble and by all these law suits are just making things worse.

It'll happen though. Too much potential revenue to be generated when it does. Reid's really pushing for it as well, he knows what side his bread is buttered on.

I can't wait. As you guys saw, I still need some more clay practice, though it was nice to have the old reflexes come back at the end, there.

But they'll have archery? I have a friend who's into that. I'll have to let him know. He's not big into guns (hardly an anti, mind you) so that should be fun to "trade off".

Oh, and I have never been steered wrong by American Shooters. Great staff, very big on customer service, good selection, nice range, and some fun stuff to rent.

Speaking of Reid and the park. If you got to the website there's a photo of him firing the "first shot". I don't think there's going to a problem with the park opening.

Tommy Welcome to Gun & Game. You can goto Clark County's website and do a search for information on that. I am not sure if they have fees posted as of yet.

Something bothers me

I am looking forward to this range opening but i am wondering how much we will be able to do on this range. I noticed the long range area is not marked public access. I also am curious about why the range personnel have to be law enforcment officers? wouldnt simple range masters do?
I am really hoping we will be able to shoot as we like ie, rapid fire different positions and not have some "Officer" standing over me the whole time. I understand about range safety. I still cant find anything about range fees. I want to know will civilians be able to use the tactical ranges and long distances. I have a special rifle that i would love to stretch out to 1000 yrds. It seems like 1/3 of the range is marked public access and i cannot find a reason. Is it because the rest of range isnt built yet? Is it special request? I feel like if it is not being used for a competition it should be available. One other thing, there is an indoor range in town, no names, and it is really frustrating when i want to use their long range and they are qualifying security guards and shut the whole range down. I hope that the Law enforcment/security personnal have their area and this will be a Public Range.
Just my input,
Tommy

Tommy I would assume that there will be very strict and structured rules about shooting on the range. Few ranges I have ever been to will allow rapid fire as it could be argued that it is not safe. If it is like any other public ranges around they will allow various shooting positions ie: prone, sitting, kneeling, standing etc etc.
I was not aware that there were restricted areas on the range so I guess i'll have to read more into it and see if I can find out the info needed. One would think that as long as the range was not in use it should be available.

Thanks Paladin,
if you look on the plans as they have them on the county website the area that is colored in yellow says public access. I just hope it turns out to be user friendy instead of over regulated.

One other thing...

I have a question for my fellow shooters in Las Vegas.
Does it seem like when you go into a gun store and i have been in almost all in the Vegas Valley that they are snobbish, almost to the point of rude. I am a Veteran Marine with two combat tours (Persian Gulf 1 and Somolia) and i hate walking in and asking a question about something, gun, scope, whatever and getting a look down their nose answer from the store personnel. I know everyone has their opinion and thats fine but i thought to sell firearms or accessories you would want to be at least friendly. I have talked to a bunch of my buddies and we call it copshop syndrome. If you arent LE and you want something or ask a question you get treated like you are dumb.
Has anyone else had this kind of experience?
Now to be positive i have had really good customer service at one guns store in Las Vegas and that was Citadel G&S. No attitude and reasonable service

Just my two cents worth, i was not trying to bash just asking if anyone else had the same experience.

dont get me started, i will only deal with glen at bargain pawn, lakemead and las vegas blvd.
i am also a veteran marine also, multiple tours, different era.
i live in summerlin, and their are plenty of stores closer, but their attitudes makes the drive worth it.
mention my name and they will increase the price, i am an expert at buying retail and selling wholesale.
seriously, if its not internet, he gets all my business.
bet other locals will post similar.

good luck, pat

I have been to Citadel many a time. The owner and his wife used to run a shop up in Utah called Elite arms. I had bought a few guns from them when they were there. Very nice people. I also took my Utah concealed carry class through them. They closed shop and moved down here I guess and worked shows until they could open another store.
I have noticed a few gun shops in town that are less than cordial. I guess it depends on what type of guns the shop carrys. I have had pretty good customer service at places where others have said nothing but bad about the store owners. I stay away from places like American Shooters because from my bad experiences there. To many ignorant people walk in there and the salesman like to talk down to you like you said. In a few of my visits there the salesman was trying to feed me a line of crap that i'm sure he is used to spew to ignorant tourist types and I called him on it. I haven't been back since and no plan to go back.

Thanks Palladin. that was one of the places i was thinking of when i made my statement. I had a similar incident there about AR-15 systems and i too will not be back nor will my friends. Like i said, i understand and respect everyones opinion about firearms but dont try to "snow" me. I just hope the new range doesnt carry this attitude over. Does anyone know if the range will have non-police officers for staff?
I am excited about getting out to the range and trying it out. I just hope we can use the full range.
