Hahaha! Real gems for sure.
I have always had a good experience with the guys at Spurlocks in Henderson. They are very friendly. They don't carry many tactical style firearms though. I recently traded in my S&W Model 60 for a Ruger Super Redhawk in .480. Said it would move much faster than the .480 and gave me more than what the Ruger was worth. I applied it to having my barrel mounted to my rifle action that he will be doing.

Is Spurlocks a good gunsmith? it is hard to find one in this town. Most gun stores want to send my equipment out of town. I have an HK USP fullsize that i have carried almost everyday for the last 12years. needless to say the finish on the sights and slide release are starting to rust. I thougt about recoating it myself with Duracoat but i dont have a sandblast cabinet and i need new tritium sights installed so i was going to have it redone by a pro.
Tell me what you guys think who will be the best smith.

Well Pat i cannot find any information that shows a .22mag has better "power" than a .38 spl in any of my reloading or ballistic tables....lol Just goes to show you dont need to know anything about guns to work in the store. I havent had good experiences with Survival Store. Does anyone remember Pacific Tactical on Paradise they closed in 1997-8 i think. They were a great customer service store...I.M.H.O.

There is a few gunsmiths around that have been recommended to me. Daniel at Accuracy Arms on Boulder Highway used to have his shop set up in Bass Pro Shops. I have been told he does nice work. He is a full stop shop so he shouldn't have to send anything out. Rance at Spurlocks is another one that came highly recommended to me. I went with him because he has knowledge of the action I own and turned several into custom rifles. I was recommended another guy out in Boulder City but I never got around to going out there to talk with him.

I got an email from the county a while back to apply as a volunteer range officer. There was nothing in it about being law enforcement.
National survival store. LOL those guys are goofy. American shooters is the worst.
I do like Glen at Bargain Pawn. It's like buying guns from Santa. He's a straight shooter (no pun intended). He actually told me not to buy a gun from there because it was too expensive.
I went to Spurlocks once when I was looking to sell a couple of guns. They gave me a way low offer. I went to see Glen and he offered $200 more. I will say this about Spurlocks. Their customer service is excellent.
Back to the shooting park. I believe it's going to be a progressive opening so those off limits areas area probably just not complete. I hope that is the case. If it is off limits I'll keep going out to the desert and just use the park for trap.

Figured I would Jump in for an update on the shooting park. This info came from an email I got from the county on the status of the park. They are having a dedication ceremony on august 25th. They are building it in stages. The trap and skeet houses are complete and waiting for the trap machine installation. The Park Office is near completion and should be done in early September. The walls of the Maintenance Building have been erected and construction crews are working diligently installing insulation and getting this building close to completion as well. Crews are working constantly on the Shotgun Center, Rifle Pistol Center, and the Education Center. Its very exciting to see the transformations that these buildings are going through on a daily basis! We are eagerly anticipating a Fall 2009 park opening!!

Today was the dedication ceremony. It was open today only for tours not shooting. The construction is behind so they're saying the first phase will open in December.

Thanks Capt Squirrel for the update.
Hey on a seperate note, for my forum mates, what/where is the best place in town for .22lr ammo. I am thinking about ordering offline but thought i would ask first,
The gun shop on Blue Diamond and Decatur has ...sit down for this...100rds for $10.00 and i cannot find any in Wallyworld or Bass Pro.

here is the web address Shooting Park

I have not got anymore info lately on the shooting park. I did not get a chance to get up there today. Las vegas tommy. I would check with Glenn up at bargin pawn on Las vegas blvd just north of lake mead. He had some 22lr 500 round bricks. A little pricy, but those are the first bricks I have seen in a while.

thanks

Thanks for the information Rattler. what do you consider pricey, i think as long as he is under $20.00 i would purchase them. Even wallyworld is out or they have 300rds for $15. i just cant believe how bad ammo has gotten. I purchased the hornady progressive press and then lost my company so i never got a chance to get the rest of my reloading supplies together.(for .223) I hope soon i will have a chance to start reloading.
everyone have a great day

Our Marketing director went to the dedication yesterday and after the ceremony they had free shooting to those who attended. Free ammo and unlimited supply(now us Las Vegans know where all our ammo has been going). I wish I would've gone now.

Morning. Bargin pawn was asking $32 and change for the 22lr bricks. Now I wish I would have gone. Free shooting and free ammo. What more can you ask for.
