Smile Do deer move when its raining?

Hey guys I was just wondering do deer move when its raining, or do they just take cover, the only reason I'm asking is because for the last 3 days I've had my trail camera set up over some corn and a supplement called Buck Grub. I just wanted to know if my cam is out there for nothing, It rains off and on and too hard. No thunderstorms or anything.

Wet weather is a great time to get out of the stand and walk (if you don't mind getting a little wet). You aren't heard near as well and you can cover more ground by moving faster. Also conceals alot of movement.

I love it when its nice and cold with a light drizzle. Masks your movement, and the deer are moving.

Rain doesn't bother them. It will make it easier to move quietly & it puts a damper on their senses too. All this has already been said though. I've tried Buck Grub with no luck. I need to get a trail cam though.

just take a look at other animals such as cows, horses, and sheep to name a few generally if they are out and about the deer will be moving also. I have found that misting and a light rain are some of the best times to see deer. Maybe they feel safer from predators or something who knows. best of luck to you.

Light misting yes. Raining harder, I couldn't say because I'm not out there either.

Yeah they move good sometimes.
I don't know why but they sometimes
move earlier in the evening. They'll
come out earlier when its raining.

The deer move just as much if not more when its raining. There might not be as much pictures on your trail cam though because some trail cams don't work as well in the rain, but that doesent mean the deer are not moveing just because the trail cam doesent show as much deer. I don't get the chance to hunt in the rain vary much though because I'm from Minnesota and it snows alot dureing deer hunting seoson. They also move alot more when it snows. Trail cams are nicce but they just don't work to well for me in snow or rain, well I hope this helps!

Yes they love to move when it's raining, they can take a lot more water than people like to. Best time to hunt in my opinion, nothing like a few hours in freezing soaked clothes to appreciate a good campfire!

I had an unusual experience in such a situation. Had been out all morning getting rained on, and found a relatively dry pine to sit under. After about 20 min, a good sized doe wanders from my left to my right only about 20 feet from me. It wasn't so much that she was that close, it was that she had 21 friends following her! It was like a huge train of does and fawns, and not one of them was bothered by me! All I could think of was one of those old time carnival games with the moving ducks

During inclement weather the odds of being successful increase, IMHO.

Do deer move in the rain, YEP! I whent and checked my trail camera yesterday and 95% of the corn was gone and I had 18 pictures. There was a doe and a 5-pointer that hung around and had themselves a nice midnight snack.

I've seen lots of deer moving in the rain. My favorite time to hunt is in the rain. As long as I can stay dry that is. Black powder hunting is a bit of a challenge because my rifle still uses the #11 percussion caps. I've got a rifle that uses the 209 primers but I don't like it as well so I don't carry it. I wouldn't let the rain discourage me from deer hunting at all. I've had some pretty good luck on rainy days. By the way, I've used quite a bit of "Buck Grub" this year too and they sure seem to like it in Duplin County NC. They just like it when it's really late at night and I have left the woods.

My favorite time to hunt. I think they realize less hunters in the woods and let their guard down, and when they lose one of their senses like hearing and also smell from rain pounding down the scent, they get nervous and move around...in my opinion. But my favorite time to hunt! and its been raining and I been driving instead of huntin!
last week to tag out
