Punkin Chuck my mother-in-law about 300-400 yards and watch her nag all the zombies to death.

LOL Great idea Big Shrek!
The only problem is that it would be cruel and unusual punishment to lob my mother-in-law at the zombies. Yes they are evil un-dead, but even they don't deserve that! It would be much more humane to just shoot 'em in the head.
Hmmm..... this post makes me think. I may have to reconsider my arsenal. My mother-in-law is a much bigger threat to my existence and survival than zombies or nuclear war.

30.06 is certainly good, or 7MM Rem Mag, 300 Win mag... Remington 700s are available in all these calibers, no matter how I try they still seem the best value out there .

If the zombie is that far away, I wouldn't risk making noise to take it out.
With what I actually have in the closet, I would use the Bushmaster AR15, A3 with 20" heavy, stainless barrel and the 44mm scope I have for it.
Ideally, a bolt-action heavy target rifle in .22-250.

I've got a .22 for long range shooting. Perhaps a headshot would slow them down? Who knows, never tried.
Upclose confrontation, I've got a very good weapon. |

I would use my 6.5 grendel with a couple 26rd mags for mowing down large groups at long range.
Close range I prefer hand to hand zombie vs. Man combat.

| If you are in Texas
wave a copy of the schedule for the next city, county, and state elections. If there are no offices for which they can run then sit brainlessly for four years they will turn around then head for another state.
Their favorite office is county commissioner. If you need to, scream the next election for county commissioner is over three years away.
If you need to kill a zombie - roll up printed election requirements showing the zombie is not eligible to run for office in your area into a pointed cyliner then stab the cylinder into the zombie's chest area.
Since your question is about long range zombie killing, create a phony newspaper with the headline current elective office salaries will be reduced to the minimum wage then mail it to the zombie. This will permanently seperate them from the earthly plane.

This thread reminds me of the Nazi Zombie Bonus level in Call Of Duty World at War lol.
out of what I have
M1 30 Cal Carbine and My Double Barrel 20 gauge for the ones that get up close.
The M1 may not stop them the first hit, but I can fire it quite fast, and I have two clips. The Double Barrel is a good close range weapon. Though a 12 gauge would be better, my trusty old 20 gauge will have to do.
When all else fails, I have a very sharp Katana.

But what if all the movies we saw are wrong and zombies turn out to be impervious to bullets?
Now, if we want to talk about a general rifle that would be good for long range or sniping duty, I'd have to go with a Mosin Nagant.

No matter the distance, zombies' heads explode at this sight.
