If there are just a couple zombies I'll use my Savage 110FP .30-06, more than that I'll switch over to the Garand. Closer in I have an AK, SKS and AR, really close in my trusty Rem 870 will finish off what's left.

Hit them in the tibia above the ankle. It won't kill them, but it will slow them down pretty substantially.
