Wouldn't shooting clear a spider much more efficiently?

If there is a spider in your barrel, a bullet with the fires of Hell pushing it will remove said spider post haste.

TCA | Yes, but potentially you risk damaging the rifling. Just the same as having water or oil or sand in the barrel when you send a bullet down it! Not what you want to do if you are into accurate shooting.

Just wanted to also pass on what I was once told and why I clean any new gun I get. Old or used ones I do just so I know they have been.
But back to new ones. I was once told to thoroughly clean a new gun because when a manufacturer makes then and then test fires them, they rarely ever clean them first of all and if they do or not, most put a rust inhibitor on the metal and in the barrel because they generally have no clue how long they'll sit in the box?
Now, if or when you take a low end firearm, I figure they aren't about to take care of it anymore then one that sells, say for 10 times the low end ones. The only ones that get any real and true TLC IMHO, are those that are special ordered and those that cost $1500 and up? Again, JMHO...

Always clean my guns way too much, cant keep my hands off of them. But, he Hi Points should not be over oiled, not sure why but I am certain as both Hi Pint forums I frequent everyone says dont over oil them. Dont know why but they are one type of gun I dont clean extensively, until get 2,000 rounds through them. My C9 is the clostest with about 6 or 7 hundred. The 40's have about 2 to 3 hundred and te 45(my newest) has 50.

Always clean a new gun. Get the factory grease out before firing it. Some guns come with just a lite oil in the bbls some come thru with a good heavy coating that needs to be removed or presures may peak beyond what you want. It's your face ,Your fingers, your gun do what ya want ,but all mine get a good cleaning before there's any fire in the hole. Better safe than sorry.--RR--
