I had to buy it for that price. The guy said it only had 50 rounds through it. I thought to myself I've heard that one before. I took it apart to clean it and I believe the guy might have been telling the truth. It's in awesome condition. Now I have two and yet to shoot either one. I will one of these days. I didn't realize there were so many sks junkies on here. It's good to know I'm not alone in this addiction.

The Tri-Rail is Leapers #568, and they make a Quad Rail now that I have on the digital camo rifle that is part #569. They have a top and bottom section that fit over the gas tube and lock together with small rails machined in the parts. Once you get them tight they do not move at all. I have used the Dremel with a small diameter scribe cutter to index the rail system to the bottom of the barrel. This gets me back to "zero" after cleaning the rifle.
I highly recommend these rail systems, they are very strong and offer the tactical SKS builder the rails he needs for mounting an optic, laser, light, and whatever else is needed.

Zephri and kphunter yours both look great!
KP, how did you get those pictures down the bore? Did you shine a flash light from the other side?
I just got a chinise sks the other day. I got it in a trade and plan on selling it, but I might keep it a while and shoot it. I will get some pics on here of it soon. I have some questions about it.

Here is a pic of my Norinco. Bought around 1993. I refinished stock with polyurethane and possibly stained it too. CRS on the staining.

Chas | Well since this post I sold the Yugo and placed a Chinese on layaway, #'s matching, complete with bayo sling, cleaning rod and cleaning kit in stock. Will post pictures when I get it out. I forgot to mention it has good wood and a nice bore!! kind of high priced at 349.00 otd, compared to 6mos ago! I've looked on Gunbroker and it seems about normal for the current times. If prices come back down I would still like a couple more, if I can get them complete, with #'s matching. Chas

Even the moderator PM'ed me and appologized for the "A..H's" to use his words.
Since Iv built this weapon and apparently its the first of its kind, many folks on other boards have enjoyed reading about it and what is to come down the road. As I checked you SKS'ers out here I thought you all are decent guners just like the others. How ever, some of those who frequent the gunsmithing column here can still kiss my a..... !!

Materialy, I have about $400 into the gun total. Labor is another story all together since I ruined a couple of hammers before I got the recut right and I had to redo the entire upper and lower fit once. As stated in the last link post on the finalized gun, The fall should see a realy hot XT-M1 with QD standard and side folder stocks. The 1 you see here will not be sold but #2 will be on GB starting @ around 6 bones with no reserve provideing the BATFE letter is a go.
