Post 10/22 Stock-Barrel?

I got my 10/22 for christmas and i'm looking to upgrade my stock and barrel. I dont know anything about modding this gun and i am trying to strip it down so that way i can do the job myself when i get around to it. On the trigger housing there is one pin that i cannot get out.I've tried everything i had and it will not come loose. Also i'm looking for a synthetic stock and a bull barrel are there any in particular i should be looking at?
Links would be appreciated

What kind of head does the screw have on it? You may want to try proping the gun upside down and spraying remington oil or somethnig like that around the top of the pin and letting it sit proped up like that so the oil can seep down into the threads and then try unscrewing the pin.

OK your mods are not to hard on a 10/22.

<Ruger 10/22 help site> is one of the best help site with good pictures to follow.

http://ruger22.com/InvisionBoard/index.php? is another great forum with some threads dedicated to the mods of the 10/22. You might want to check out.

The Trigger Group is held into the receiver using 2 pins. With the rifle unloaded, cocked, the pins should push out pretty easy, you may need to tap them using a proper size punch and a small hammer.

If you are going to do some mods and work yourself, invest in a nice set of punches. and good gunsmith style screw drivers, you don't need to spend a bunch, but worth the investment.

punches- CheapGunParts.Com

bull barrel- Green Mountain 18 Blue Fluted Bull Barrel 10/22 (Free Shipping) [GM901504] - $117.00 : Gunkings, 10-22 and AR15 parts and accessories

trigger up grade parts 10-22 VQ Match Hammer & Sear ( Free Shiping) [VC10MHS] - $65.95 : Gunkings, 10-22 and AR15 parts and accessories
they also list just the Vol. hammer, replacing it alone will greatly improve you trigger pull.
there you go, have fun and be safe,
just post any other questions, some one will help you.

First of all - don't get in a rush

Take time to study the aftermarket. Make a list of what you find interesting. Then talk over the list with a gunsmith or a person who has made an upgraded 10/22.

Time and study makes for a great final product.

Rimfirecentral is a good site,, but it is not all that.

You have the chosen few, that all bow down to.

It seems to me that it is a site for a few to pat each others backs and to tell every one else they need those services.

Like I said, good site, good info, just they want to promote a few services of a few people a little much.

Ask a lot of questions, on several sites, read good books, shop and some day you will still be trying to build your ultimate rifle.
Some have been trying for many years, many rifles. so, just have fun!

I'll second that. Just stay out of the politics on the site and you'll be fine. There is a huge amount of knowledge that can be learned fro this site.

You have a good point. I would think twice before buying anything from parts to services. Just about every mod for a 10/22 can be done using the original parts. rimfire is a great place to search for information. To bad so many of the older posts have lost their photo's.

Hey thanks! and yes it does shoot very nice. Along side my friends stock 10/22 my grouping was much better than his. He also tried my rifle and shot better with mine over his. Noticable improvement at not much cost. You can also get the ruger factory scope rail from that same site. I got the Catseye scope on clearance, was $150ish reduced to $50. Very nice illuminated scope, very clear optics. I think with buying my 10/22 used at a pawn shop for $125 i have less than $400 into the rifle. You can get stock 10 round box clips at Mills Fleet Farm for $13. I have 5 box clips for that rifle also

Rimfirecentral is a good site,, but it is not all that.

Ruger22.com has been around for going on 4 years now, with over 150 detailed photos and easy to follow instructions on how to do anything with a 10/22, yet you cannot even mention the sites name on RFC without getting banned. why? beats me....they just can't stand that someone took the time to put up a great site other than them.

My bad, I should have mentioned ruger22.com. Great how to pages. Bob has a great retail biz going with more than fair pricing. I didn't see him jack prices 100% plus like some 'other' sites we all know, when the election happened.
