Yes, I fished one of the city ponds last week. No luck. I really need to get out and hit some of the farm ponds around here or maybe Dragoon.

I won't have a day off until Sunday or Monday. I might try it then. I don't own a boat so fishing at a place like Melvern or Pamona is an iffy proposition.

I was raised on a small Kansas dairy farm just outside the tiny town of Latham. Graduated in "55 in a class of eleven. Halloween night was the wildest time there. Otherwise, Tuesdays and Friday evenings, after basketball games, kids headed either to El Dorado, Agusta, or Wichita for excitement.
Lots of coyote hunters there, as well as quail hunters. Coyote hunters had P/U's with a quick release dog box on behind. Many hunters used "sportorized" old military rifles, usually 03A3's. Quail hunting the hedge rows kept us occupied usually on Sunday afternoons...because there wasn't time for fun during the week days. There were plenty of farm ponds available for fishing, and most farmers would allow anyone who asked permission to hunt. Same for hunting quail. Deer and turkeys weren't found in that area at that time.(1950's)
Eventually I graduated from El Dorado Juco...KSU and Pittsburg State. Now that I've retired, I'm back to my roots with fishing and hunting. Life is good.(ha)
