wild pigs and the KDWP

seeing how we now have a kansas forum here, i'll ask this.

how many of you have seen any wild hogs or hog damage when you're out in the field?
and what do you think of the KDWPs decision to outlaw hunting of them?

Are you talking about the Clinton Lake area? I have a friend that has seen several small herds there. KDWP gets in a helicopter and shoots them but won't let anyone hunt them. I think KDPW are morons and are ruining it for the rest of us.

you know what i'm talking about bunnywabbit.
i've hunted the WIHA areas around clinton and it's amazing what damage those things can do to a field..last time i went hunting up there i shot a yearling pig. man you'da thought i was a rock start, we had a good 10 cars pull up and eyeball it.
everyone we talked to that day said that they wished we had shot more of them.
i know the KDWP is shooting them from helicopters but i can guarantee they won't get more than about a third of the population, they breed like rats.
a litter every 6 months and up to 16 piglets a litter
we've got them here in franklin county too.
i figure that KDWP wasn't making any money on them, so that's why they got together with the livestock assoc. and outlawed it.
i figure it's gonna open up again, there's no way they'll ever eradicate them.

Ottawa rogue man we are litteraly neighbors I live just between ottawa and pomona pretty cool meeting someone on the web that lives so close .
We have not seen any ferral hogs as of yet nor any dammage caused by them .
KDWP says the reason they wont open a season is they are arfaid it would push the pigs further out into the surrounding area . You know last year they spent $100,000 on trying their way we will see how long it takes before they admit defeat. Im guessing it won't take long .
I have heard from family around princeton and rantoul that the hogs are out there I would say those folks are prolly giving the finger to KDWP and handeling it them selves the best they know how. With a 30-06 .

small world, aint it Coyote?
i used to hunt right around 5 corners out on indiana, and i've seen some hog roots out in the fields there.
looks like someone took a roto tiller to the field.
Iv'e heard that line and others from a few KDWP guys, kinda like the cougars that don't exist around here either
i wonder who gets the money from the "pest disposal liscenses" you're supposed to get to eliminate them from your land???
I've always said that they won't have a choice in a few years.
those things breed too fast, and we'll end up like texas

No, knew an 80 year old woman with 280 acres that she gave me run of. She has since sold it and moved to Lyndon. I got a bird a couple years ago that had one white tail feather. Not sure if it was a crossbreed or a freak of nature.

I would have mounted a turkey with a lot of white in it. I had my 20 gauge and made a longer shot than I should have on this bird. He saw me but didn't know what I was because I was in camo, but he was headed the other direction. He ended up dying by one pellet in the ear. Took me a while to figure out where I hit him.

no problem Coyote, go to wally world and get a couple of hen decoys and a small slate or box call.
i've had 'em come in from over 500yds away and through a barbwire fence to get to a decoy in the springtime.
Toms are stupid in the springtime.
if you want to draw them over to your land on a longer term basis, you might think about a food plot or two.
just ask yourself what do they have over there that they don't have at my place.

those are cute when they're that size but get big and mean and UGLY as they get older
kinda like a cat
