"Congress is trying to pass..." is about as specific as hearing, "they say..."

Who in Congress is trying to do it? Someone has to have proposed it, if it's really in the works.

I suddenly see the "pin", as you put it, lol, full of what were once law abiding responsible contributing to society in a positive way, citizens, as I truly feel many will not do it. Because they'd know, once you register your firearms on a nationwide basis, like that would be, sooner or later, they'd then pass a law making it illegal to own any and all firearms and knowing weho owns what, they'd eventually come for them!

Close to what they've already done in Australia and Europe.

And can you imagine the uproar if they tried this. Every representative and Senators phone would be ringing off their hooks!

if your representative is listed...time to act is now. If yours isn't, it's still time to act.

As a note: 22 individuals out of the 65 listed (34%) are from only two states: CA and NY; 15 from CA alone. The number grows to 42 of 65 (65%) if you include only four more states: NJ, MA, PA and FL. That is 6 states out of 50. Only 20 of the 50 states are represented at all. A basic idea of the framers of our government was that the entire country would NOT be run at the dictates of A MINORITY OF THE STATES.

Hmmmmm Ironic the bill is 1022 as in Ruger 10/22, a gun it will probably ban.

Apparently there is a lot of interest in this bill. The gov website where you can read the bill is down because of so much traffic.

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-1022

Hopefully everyone will flood their Reps inboxes with protests!!!

See My Blog on Exerting Political Power

Write letters and work over your Politicians at ALL levels. They all talk to each other especially within a State. When the local guys get heat because of Washington, the US Senators and especially Representatives, hear it again from State Officials too. It all adds up to pressure on Washington.

None of my Senators are listed, but I still called them and told them that they need to support the law abiding citizen and not back any AWB or registration. So please dont sit on your a$$es and think "oh well I dont have to call, someone else will." That will come back to haunt you quicker than that one armed stripper you met that night on your bachelor party. Iam really surprised to see the states of Ga,Fla, and Texas up there. You guys that live in these states, you are the backbone that can make a difference just by calling/writing/e-mailing. Just check out the change.gov site and type in gun, scroll down and you will see now that Obama re-listed his AWB intentions.

I think you're just listing the sponsors of HR1022, DWFan. I was asking Huudoo who's trying to shove it through as a rider on a 'war bill,' as his dealer claimed. And I'd like to know which 'war bill' while we're at it...

So far, this looks like just one more bs rumor floating around. If I start running in circles and screaming over each and every one of them, I'm going to get very tired...

Correct me if I'm wrong, Troy, but didn't a new session of Congress start a couple of days ago? HR 1022 was from the previous Congress, and since it didn't make it into law it should be dead as Caesar. Or is the Mad Dog from Long Island starting over anew?

And I too would like confirmation that the bastards are trying to go the "rider on a 'must pass' bill" route, since they tried and failed to get the evil thing through on its own merits last Congress.

Does Rahm Emmanuel still count? lol He's a sponsor but no longer in that same political position. It'll have to be whomever replaces him.

The other one from Illinois isn't familiar to me, at all. Surprised Obama's name isn't, oh never mind, probably one he either just voted "present" on or simply just wasn't there that day? lmao and I'm also surprised Dick Durbin isn't on the list either. He's such a tool like Mayor Daley.

Yes, those are the folks connected to HR 1022, Troy; and the same folks who would be behind any other similar legislation. I didn't add that, sorry. I just felt their names should be posted so everyone would know who they were. It is best to know who the opposition is, I think.
I don't have any reference to any legislation being "piggybacked" at this time.
You are right, Cyrano. HR 1022 is dead at the present. However I have no doubt that these same individuals, if still in office, wouldn't gladly support new legislation that would be viewed favorably by the new President.
ackspac, I am hardly surprised that particular Congresswoman from Texas is on that list. She also joined the lobby to free a young man accused of being involved in a gang beating beating of a student that some felt deserved to be called a racial hate crime. The young man did have his charges reduced and was recently freed. He then turned around and shot himself after a botched robbery attempt that the press politely referred to as "shoplifting" and an assault on the security officer. The young man is a repeat criminal with a history of violence, yet she felt he deserved to be on the streets. As I have said before, those who lobby against the 2nd Amendment as a general rule are the same people who would pamper criminals.

That's an interesting question, Cyrano. HR1022 never made it out of committee. Whether it needs to be reintroduced for the new session or not, I don't know.

Any Congressional scholars on here who can answer that one?

No, I'd be more interested in running some of them out of the Democratic Party, instead.

HR 1022 would have to be reintroduced....or attached to already proposed legislation.

Ouch, Mooseman and TexPlt, those rocks hurt. I am a nearly extinct Conservative Democrat. If y'all keep pelting me with them rocks I may go extinct sooner than expected. You would not catch me voting for HR 1022 and there are still a few other Democrats who feel this way too. Don't kill us all yet.

If you really want to help do something about this. go to www.RTKABA.com and sign up for the "Letter Filibuster mailing campaign." There are 20,000 of us participating, but you must hurry, the letters are all to be sent on 1/20/09. The goal is to get 30,000 people who are willing to actually do something to save their rights.
