Should I ask? XDm in .45 ACP?

Alright, I remember when we were waiting for the 9mm XDm to appear. We talked about it for months and kept watching the SA web site. Is it too soon to start hoping for an XDm .45? I have the .40, but have been wanting a .45. Thought about 1911's, but I really have some confidence with the SA XDm and feel as if I've gotten to know it well. It would be super cool to get an Olive Drab XDm .45, but I'll bet it will be a while. I was at the gun store yesterday and while looking at other stuff the XDm's were leaving the store. I actually gave some unsolicited input to several potential buyers and I think they are probably out of XDm's again. I may start saving my loose change for a few months in preparation, but I would like to add a .45 caliber gun to my collection. And I know how the XDm works - and it is toooo easy to take apart and clean. Later, B

I heard rumors that it may be introduced at the SHOT Show this year.

I emailed Springfield and asked them if it is true that an XDM in a .45 is on the way. They said it is: "Not being produced at this time". That leads me to believe it is in the future. I was going to buy a regular XD .45 to add to my XD collection but I am going to hold out a while. I have a Springfield 1911 A1 in Stainless that is quite nice so I can wait a while.

Well here's the deal...I have several guns in very good calibers, but I don't have a .45. I would like to get a 1911, but I also like the XDm .40 that I have. Do I get a 1911 or an XDm .45? So...my wife thinks I'm a lunatic and that I don't need any more guns. I told her that I agree...I have all the guns I would ever need and I don't want any more. Except for a .22 target pistol for plinking, and a .45, and oh yes, I want EVERY GUN I SEE!!! She started laughing, so I guess she thought it was funny. I do seem to go through phases and I'm in the gun collector phase of my life right now. Seems to me, everybody needs a .22 plinker and a good .45. They should also have several .357's and few .40's, etc., etc. So, you see my dilemma - spending too much, a wife that holes me accountable (and thinks I'm crazy), etc. Later, B

A good solution to your "Problem" is get a 1911 and a .45 XDM when they come out. Problem solved. Of course your wife probably hates me now but I live 1,000 miles away from her. She can't shoot me. I want a .22 too for fun plink days. It seems the money saved on ammo will pay for the gun in less than 5 range trips.

I just got this email from Springfield today:

Good afternoon, Gary:
Please accept our apology for the delay in responding.
We do anticipate that the XDm model will grow into other calibers; however, we do not have any specifics at this time.
We would recommend that you keep an eye on our website @ www.springfieldarmory.com for further updates.
Thank you for your interest in Springfield!
Enjoy the day!

Anyone heard any news on the .45 XDM yet? I can't wait for that. I'd also love to see a .45 Subcompact XD too.

After getting my XD 45ACP, and loving it, I'm planning on a .40 SC, then a .357 tactical, and a 9mm tactical....now...wheres that money...

I also own the XDM 40 (4.5") and I believe Springfield needs to add an XDM 45 auto (either 4.5" or 5", hopefully 14+1) & new subcompact sized XDMs (3") in 9 & 40
