Are you single, bringing family, looking for quarters, etc? Army, Air Force?

I live about 30 miles south of Ft Carson (Pueblo West). Lived in the Springs are for about 12 years total so I know my way around there pretty well, have a great real estate contact both in Springs & Pueblo if your'e looking for a house. I picked Ft Carson as my terminal assigment back in '91.

Haven't shot there in ~10 years, but Ft Carson has/had a nice 300m privately owned weapons range (Range 19). I belong to a private range down here now. Several decent gun stores up there, and good gun shows every 3 months or so, but the panic buying of late may have made things a bit lean.

Let me know when the time draws near & I'll be glad to help any way I can.

Welcome home!

Dave

Thumbs up

You talking about the Pueblo range out in the boone docks? I've shot there with friends.
There are 4 or 5 gun club ranges in the CS area. I've shot at most of them.
Most of the time I go out east of town to a friends ranch. No marked shooting areas, but can get anything from point blank to 1000 meters, all into high dirt creek washes. We have had occasional Machine Gun shoots there.
Range 19 was closed and demolished about 5 yrs ago when they built the new 6 lane in, 2 out gate area. They are now using a range south of Butts Field, but I don't remember which one. Never been to it. My range card has expired.
Pete has a trap & skeet range, but don't think they have rifle & pistol???

That's the one. Not sure how long it's been since you've been there, but they're making improvements all the time. I really like it.

Is that Cactus Flats down off of highway 50 you are talking about? That is kind of a smaller range, but friendly. Seems to be more into trap/skeet then anything else.

Hey Trust - I live in the springs. We have a few private shooting clubs, but you are moving to a state that is 30% national forest. I go to Rampart Range, up above Garden of the Gods on Rampart Range Road, if I want to use their benches. Otherwise I have a few favorite places in the forest I go to for more "peaceful" shooting.

As far as stores in the area, I hate dealing with the guys he has at the counter, but Paradise gets some nice stuff in once in a while. He is just west of Downtown.

I go through Volker Research for my transfers. No hassles, quick and easy to deal with. His staff really knows what they are doing.

Voelker Research

Yes, it is a Mac store. The owner has his ffl. There is just something neat about walking into a mac store and leaving with an AK.

Pueblo West Sportsman's Association. North of Highway 50 off of Platteville Road (Kashmir). Has rifle (up to 420 meters), pistol, trap, skeet, & archery ranges.

I think $20 is a reasonable fee. That is what I charge and $50 for a form 4 full auto or suppressor.

No store of any kind. I'm one of the few so called kitchen table FFLs still in operation. Work out of my house.
