So, last night, sv_libertarian and myself were chatting over IM and mutually decided that it would be both fun and neat to "score" firearms on how Tacti-"cool" they were, based on accessories and such.
We'll watch for pictures of rifles and other firearms, such as shotguns, that have tacticool features and we'll score them independently, then average our two scores to give that particular incarnation of the firearm it's Tacti-cool Score.
This isn't going to be limited to just your basic EBR's like AR's, AK's and HK's... we're talking anything and everything that comes across our plate, including bolt guns, home-defense shotguns and maybe even a pistol or three.
(Things that came or come factory stock on the firearm (even if added later) will not count towards points and the first "rail" is a freebie, since it's kinda necessary to mount a scope in many cases.)-This provision will no longer be applied, since it is WAY too hard for us to tell what a particular model came with. Anyways, some people choose firearms for their tacticool look over similar models, so anything and everything on the list will count!
As we come across firearms and determine their score, I or SV will post the score and a link to the firearm here in the thread so everyone can see.
We're still not fully decided on whether to release our list and points system for scoring, but I really don't see what harm there could be in people actually trying to get a higher Tacti-cool Score, since this is all for fun anyways!
Both SV's and my hope is that people get a laugh out of this and have fun with it. This isn't a competition, we're just trying to have fun with the rest of the G&G community and feature other folks' fine weaponry.

Reason: Removing Factory-stock clause
Sorry, I don't have any of those. I try to keep 'em as light as possible, so my wore out body can haul 'em around. The only extras that go on my firearms are optics, because my eyes are shot, too! LOL!
I think tricking out a 10-22 is probably among the most popular ways for guys to play the scary looking gun game.
I wonder if I could put a miniature battery powered motor on one of those little cranks for the trigger guard and make a machine gun out of the thing? Would that be tacti-COOL or tacti-FOOL? I could leave the handle on there to make it look manually operated and hide the batteries in the hollow plastic stock. Then inlet the wires into the plastic trigger guard so no one would see them, and put a microswitch in the fore end disguised as a screw head. The ATF would never know unless I did a drive by of a police station and unloaded a 50 round mag in 30 seconds or less.
YO, BUBBA, Just Kidding here! DO NOT DO THIS! If nothing else bad happens, which it very likely would since we all know BATFE reads every post here, you might overheat your barrel and melt your plastic fore-end.

do you get bonus points for putting all kindsa craptical stuff on a 10-22?
lasers/bayo's/muzzle brakes etc.
I thought tacticool only involved silly stuff that wasn't actually useful. A muzzle brake on a 10/22 is tacticool. A folding stock on a 10/22 is actually useful for making it more compact when you are trying to cram enough stuff into your truck for a week out of town. Having two rails on a rifle isn't tacticool if you actually use them. It's difficult to hang a light for pig hunting or defense off the same rail that has your optical sight.
Ok, so here goes. Keltec SU16 with added pistol grip, side folding stock, and Holosight. Also have a strap-on brass catcher for it (too lazy to bend over).

Borderline Tacticool. Folding stock adds big, so does the electronic sight. The rail is factory, and the sling is nothing fancy. I say "tactimebbe". If you had a laser, bayonet, additional rails, AR style handguards or flash hider, one or more of those might tip the scale towards low end tacticool.

I cry FOUL! BigV's pic has been posted here before! I don't believe there are two of those things. I don't think it's even his gun. He gets no points for that one!
Sorry, BigV. I'm just jealous. Besides I thought you were going to put that horrendous handgun pic up. Can you win tacti-cool points for handguns?

It's kind of the deer poacher's gun of choice in Michigan, or was when I lived there. Spotlight, deer eyes, .22, bang!(not BANG!), dead deer. The idea was the lack of noise made it less likely the violator would be heard and caught.
I wonder if they always die from a shot to the head?
