Last spring when I was out turkey hunting, it was still really cold out. Thought for sure there wouldn't be any snakes out, dummy me. Ran across a 5' black snake. I thought it was a stick and almost stepped on it because I wasn't looking for snakes. He poked his head up and thought he was going to bite me. 3" turkey loads will take a snake's head clean off. I hate snakes.
Also, I have killed several with an RSW 1000 fps pellet rifle. Just have to make a good head or body shot. Used to have them get in my goldfish ponds and eat the fish. Snakes can be killed with anything. They are pretty soft bodied.
