Tommorrow I'm ordering A Choate Tactical stock that is designed for a Detachable mag to put my Stevens 200 .308 into. They finally make one for the 4.411 center feed. 159.00 plus the detachable mag parts. The stock is 3 lbs 11 oz, un-like the Sniper and Varmint stocks they make. They are finally making stocks for the Savage/ Stevens center feeds. I'd like to look for a 20- 22 in medium barrel that will replace the thin one.
Just finished a badly needed kitchen remodel, so there is some cash left, and one of the first things I get is a Linux compatible camera so I can post pictures here. I'm by no means an expert, but I am mechanically inclined. The tupperware stock just flexes too much. I keep having to tighten the action screws. I've contacted the ATI people about the stock twice now with no reply but they do have it in stock, so I'll try again tomorrow.
i think all your barrel choices are good. pick one and go with it. ive got a brand new pac-nor sitting on my bech that looks great. hopefully get out to shoot it next month. pac-nor is currently about an 8week wait on threaded/chambered barrels.
I'm on The Savage shooters forum too, and have had some input there. I actually got an e-mail from info@combatstocks.com they said if my rifle did not have a detachable mag there would be some gunsmithing required probably to attach the new mag extension to the action. They will have to drill and tap the action probably to attach the mag holder. That shouldn't be too hard. lefty o, SSS does make the best trigger. The rifle has the light sport barrel on it. I'm looking for a camera today. Gunsmiths are backed way up down here right now.
Still haven't heard back from ATI yet. So far the parts list is:
Choate Tactical stock
New front action screw
A new magazine frame
A nine round mag
Bottom cap for mag
