Yogi - nope. Never have. In Albuquerque, I've worked for Qwest, Express Scripts, and currently Convergys.

Bigcountry- I love it. Not bad for accuracy, either. One of my favorite bragging pics is one of a poster of bin Laden with a bullet hole right between his eyes. It was shot with my Yugo at 100 yards... no scope.

This is what Yugoslavian SKS M59/66 or the Yugoslavian SKS M59. Granted, the image below is of a new model to excellent condition "wishful thinking" to get lucky on that purchase. I have to not tell the wife of an future purchase of a former East Block weapon.

Yogi - I don't listen to the radio often, but when I do, it's either 94 Rock or the Buzzard.

I thought it said Mexico at first, in New Mexico you can drive when your 14, better not have any kids!

I am from Albuquerque

I was born in Albuquerque in 1949, have lived in Rhode Island, Virginia, Montana and Hawaii, and now live 30 miles south of Albuquerque in Belen, along the Rio Grande river. Doesn't seem like anyone on this post really knows much about Albuquerque, or New Mexico, for that matter. We're like everyone else... we have our bad places, our crime, and some bad people. But compared to so many other large metropolitan places, the Albuquerque area is quite nice. Rentals tend to be somewhat expensive: a 2 bedroom apartment in a small complex (medium class living) is about $600. Nice trendy modern apartments are $900 and up. House prices are higher than someplace like Omaha, but lower than california. There is no water shortage. But there could be, except for the fact that a new plan to replenish the aquifer has passed, and should take care of the potential problem. There is virtually no land left in the Albuquerque metropolitan area. There are military bases on one side, national forest to the east, and Indian reservations to the north, south, and west, therefore the pricier housing. Rio Rancho to the west is still growing.
Within 40 miles of Albuquerque are many smaller and pleasant communities. The east mountains and Edgewood to the east (SASS has their national headquarters at edgewood), Bosque Farms and Los Lunas to the South, Placitas and Bernalillo to the north, and Rio Rancho to the west. All are very nice communities. The Mountains above Albuquerque guarantee skiing, there are plenty of large lakes around, and hunting is pretty good, even with some exotic african species (Barbarys, Ibex, etc). Elk, Antelope and Mule Deer are the primary big game. Fishing can be fantastic.
Want to ask any questions in person? I am certainly no authority on it all, but I like New Mexico living. I don't have an agenda to push, so I tend to tell it like I see it. Email me if you woulld like Radarcarve@comcast.net (my business is www.radarcarve.net) Lee Davis

I don't think so. do you have a link to the law? I think you can get a permit to drive with parents at the age of 15 but to drive alone I think you have to be at least 16.

I just read this morning that Gov. Richardson (?) just abolished the death penalty in NM, I'm not real fond of that aspect of the state. JMPO.

That it was abolished. I'm a firm believer in capital punishment. I see no reason to keep violent predators around in our society, and pay how many tens of thousands of dollars per year to keep each one locked up. Grind 'em up into Hog Chow.

I have the same opinion. apparently, the argument was that the death penalty cost too much. WHAT!! How could it cost more than keeping someone in prison for 70+ years at a cost of about $30,000 a year?? Also, the "ethics" behind keeping a murdering sick freak alive is beyond me. I say arrange the meeting and let god sort them out.

I agree with the tax thing! We just got hit with Lightning Tax here. Property tax will be going up next cycle. I was unable to get an assessor before my TDY (temporary duty) for 2 weeks.

Sandia lab deer? Hot air balloons, and mountain biking. Sounds like it's expensive to live there. Sit out in the back yard drinking beer, BBQing, and waiting for the UFO's to come out. Cool.

Balloon Fest is wonderful, when the weather plays fair on the weekend, this past 2008 the best was day 1 and some week days; however, had to work.

Mounatin Biking, missing the mountains until the knee goes thru healing process. Been doing the Rio Grand Basque ride, flat and some good head wind.
