| OK LEO's - what would help you?
During the sniper pandemonium, it seems like every third interview on CNN was some daggone expert stating that what LEO's really needed was mounds of ballistic data from cartridge cases and bullets of every firearm sold in America. (Please, people- I'm not advocating this - bear with me and get my point!). I know enough about computers and enough about guns that it would be a tall order to have a computer data base that was reliably searchable for ballistic matches. If it can be done, it won't be for free. Let's assume that it would cost X million dollars to implement nationwide. Aren't there other ways to spend the X million that would help LEO's an awful lot more? Please put on your thinking caps. |

Take that X million dollars and increase the number of officers on the force. We run extremely short handed these days. Man power is always a big issue at our department meetings.

the biggest problem I can see with this data base is that only new or registered guns will be on it, therefore criminals will not be on the list, tell me what is the point of this, it's exactly the same as the gun buyback sceme they had here, all the honest people handed their illegal guns in and all the criminals kept theirs, makes sense to me!

just give me the money and i'll think of a plan . i will hire a bunch of people to take surveys and collect all the data needed and i will get back to you guy's in a few years.kinda sounds like goverment procceedure to me huh.the piont is you can never do enough. you can never have enough cops .would it solve the problem if we put a million cops onthe street. (no) the trueth is we don't have the jail space for the criminals. what would all those new cops do ?? they would do thier jobs like the rest of them. but the crook will still be out on the street before the paper work is donei think we have enough cops already . The problem is the court system. the crooks know that it's a very slim chance they will do time for the crime. thats why we have all those repeat offenders . am i right or what?? . how many of you cops arrest the same guy's over and over again. put the money where it is needed build more jails . enforce the death penalty.that should empty out a few cells .

A data base is only good for registered guns, and as I said before I ain't yet seen any criminals in line for their permits. As the saying goes if you outlaw guns, only out laws will have guns! As far as running out of prison space goes do what the nazis did and pack 'em up 50 to a railway car.I believe there are 60 railway cars to a mile, and a lot of abandonded tracks. Use the chain gang in the day and lock 'em in the cars at night. If any get out of hand, shoot 'em all, but save 6 for pallbears!
