I thought we were all hunters here and could joke. my poroblelm is I was refered here by a respected bigfoot inverstagater and found people that one, dount understand its behavior and two make fun of the people that have dedacated the lives to the preservation of the nobale beings. If you guys would take the time to understand the behavior of bigfoot and, knew the sighs to look for we all could get together and solve this mystary with out a shot and a lot of respect!!!

well back to scheduled programing..... Who wants to go on a bigfoot expedition? Should we take guns or cameras? Do you think it is aggressive? I doubt it is since there are no know attacks reported. I think we should ask obama to look further into this mystery.

Guns, forget cameras.

Empty the magazine and ask questions later.

Our country wasn't based on religion. But I do recall a certain Spaniard who didn't believe what was widely accepted as fact. In 1492, while in the process of PROVING his idea, he paved the way for European settlement in our country.

Well then, since you put it that way...

You are spelling two out of three words incorrectly and stereotyping and criticizing all the members of this forum. Yet you call us stupid... Riiiiiight... When you are finished chasing leprechauns, fairies, and bigfoot, I suggest you make an apology. You have lost all credibility as it is, but you may still prove you have balls by being a man and giving the same respect we all give each other around here.

I was lurking this thread until someone got a little rude to our members, here. But this is pretty much it. No physical evidence has been found that has not been disproven within weeks to months of discovery, and this is with a fair number of people actively looking for it. Gorillas were unknown to the western world until the mid-1800s, but now, most naturalists have no problem at all locating troupes if they want to...okay...not no trouble, but they do so very consistently.

If another large hominid or even a closely related primate was living in North America, we'd have at least some physical evidence...even hair or scat. The fact is, people devote a lot of time to trying to locate this animal, yet never find the sorts of traces that our members who say...hunt deer or bear regularly, will regularly find to indicate their quarry has at least been in an area.

Honestly, with the interest in zoology I have (admittedly, my emphasis is on entomology), cryptozoology is not a "discipline" I tend to respect, especially due to its extraordinarily high failure rate. In point of fact, pretty much no animal sought by cryptozoologists has ever actually been located. If you're looking for unknown species, you're better off sticking with invertebrates, lots of those are still uncatalogued.

Heck, conservationists discovered ten new amphibian species in Columbia: Ten new amphibian species discovered in Colombia - Yahoo! News

That's gonna make some careers, let me tell you.

But cryptozoologists never seem interested in cataloging animals dredged up from the abyssal depths or checking against existing records to see if an insect found in South America might be a new species of beetle (350,000+ species and counting). They always seem to want the "sexy" score...something big and singular-looking.

The okapi was inded unknown to mainstream science until the early 1900s, but honestly, if you showed one to your average person, they'd say "Oh. Stripey, deer-looking, antelope thing." It's not really the sort of thing that sets the world on fire with its discovery. It's more of an interesting footnote.

The "remnant Gigantopithecus" idea is hysterical on its face. Suckers were pretty much living examples of Mighty Joe Young, well...okay, more like blimped up orangutans (they're more closely related to those guys). They were about bear-sized, and we find bears often enough.

Frankly, primates are also intelligent and curious. That works against them if we're actively seeking them.

Come on, how would this

go unfound and leave no physical traces?

If you want to find larger, unknown animals, I say hit the oceans. Lot of marine biologists are pretty sure there are at least a couple of "sea monsters" we haven't found yet.

Yes, and us primitive, alcoholic, wife beating rednecks happen to be some of the best animal trackers on the face of the earth. We spend more time in the woods than at home, unlike SOME people who devote their lives to watching the Sci-fi channel and reading bogus claims of monsters roaming the countryside.

Good to see another member with a strong background in wildlife Biology. I majored in Fisheries & Limnology with plenty of Zoology and Ecology.

If only those who devote their lives to Cryptozoology instead focused their time on realistic organism discoveries, we would be lightyears ahead in indentifying and understanding the species we share this planet with.

Personally, I think they exist and proof has been found, but the gooberment keeps it hushed up. They think us great unwashed masses of peons would freak out if we knew about bigfeets and aliens. Or who really killed JFK. We'd all pee ourselves and riot in the streets, ya know.

rondog, don't forget how the Government was responsible for 9-11, prisons are still serving Soilent Green, and Clinton killed members of his cabinet. It's all related to Bigfoot...
