| CETME's?
Tell me about them. I like the way they look and don't have the grand or so to drop on an FN-FAL. Are they decent quality? Good shooters? Blah Blah Blah...... Sorry to have posted this in the wrong room. I realized it too late...1*

:assult: :assult: :assult: :assult: :assult: 2 of my friends have them and I've the G3, I have to say that the G3 is better manufactured and the finishes are better. It's suposed to be a spanish clone of the HK 91 and the G3 is supposedto be the clone of the HK 91 too but I like G3 better. Some said that the cetmes once dialed in are good rifles but I don't have enough experience to tell for sure. :assult: :assult: :assult: :assult: :assult:

The CETME is the gun later liscenced by HK to make into the G3, a select fire battle rifle. The HK-91 is/was HK's semi-automatic only commercial version of the G3. The rifles out there called G3s (the same way we call an SAR-1 an AK-47) that are assembled by Century, Special Weapons, and Hesse (or others I don't know of) are G3 parts kits assembled into semi-auto only using the requisite number of US made parts to be legal using hi-caps. The new Century CETMEs are the same thing on the CETME pattern using CETME parts. The two are technologically the same. Magazines will interchange but the CETME mags are rougher to insert into G3. G3 mags are better in my opinion. The stocks can be made to fit the other with a bit of innovation. Not sure about the trigger group, but all other mechanical parts are on different specs and absolutely not interchangeable. I second that the G3s are of higher quality than the CETMEs. But they are also more expensive (50% more, they used to be the same) and getting harder to find. I recommend the model with an aluminum receiver and built in scope rail. Better than the attachable mounts and a heck of a lot cheaper (You'll pay almost as much for an HK claw mount and 4x scope as a rifle). CETME to me is more like an AK alternative. Can be accurate, but probably not. Durable if built right and inexpensive. Centerfire has CETMEs for $300 and G3s for $450. I think FAC has G3s, but not as many as they used to.

The CETME is the battle rifle that German weapons engineers designed for Spanish Army after they fled to Spain at the end of WW2. It was based on the second generation of German assault rifles, with many similarities to the STG44. When Germany was allowed to manufacture assault rifles again, they moved back to Germany and formed H&K. They had to license their own design from Spain to produce the G3 for the German Army. Then they made a semiautomatic version, called the HK91.

The CETME was adopted by half of Europe, and manufactured in several countries. From what I understand, the CETMEs for sale now are new manufacture, on old machinery that came from Spain.

I believe they are old CETME parts kits assembled with a US made receiver and requisite number of compliance parts and a semi-auto trigger group.
