ROSSI 462 grips

Anyone know if the grips that come on the model 97104 will fir the 46202? I have seen the 462 at gun shows with both grips but you never know if there has been a change made. I hide my 462 in my back jeans pocket and the longer grips with the little finger rerst that come on the 462 now doesn't hide completely in the pocket. The shorter grips will. Too bad Pachmayr does'nt make a set of gripper grips for the ROSSI 462.

I bought a 462 and I know what you mean. I would like to find another grip size to try too.

I got a 462, and the grip nut pulled out of its recess, due to burred threads, I guess. I called Taurus, and they say the 971 and the 462 are different frames. However, on Bud's Guns website, they show the 462 as having the checkered rubber grips like the 971, instead of the pebbled grips you usually see on the 461/ 462. I don't much like the pebbled grips, either, so I am looking for the checkered type also. If you find some, would you let me know where? Thanks.

I've been in touch with Taurus(Rossi) repair. They are sending me replacement grips for my 462. I had sent the broken ones to them. A fellow named Mike called me from there Wednesday; he says the only grips he has for the 462 are the pebbled type, so that's what he's sending me. I also found that Pachmayr Presentation grip will fit on my 462 well enough to use the gun, should I have to. Of course, that big Pachmayr on the 462 looks like a combat boot on a rooster!

I found that Pachmayr has a "Compac" grip that fits a 462. I put one on mine today. It's not thick and bulky; looks and feels good on my little 462. The Pachmayr model # is ROS/C. You can go on Pachmayr's website and see it.

Well, Taurus finally got my 462 grips to me, although they failed to include the screw that holds them on!!Reminds me of the story about the three monkeys and the football!Anyway, it turns out they are the grips used on the 971; checkered rubber with the finger grooves, not the rounded pebbled grips. If you want to order them, their item # is 38230100.

My dealings with Taurus over the past year leaves me wondering if anyone there knows or cares what they are doing. Even an email forwarded to Morrison from me by a third party got no response. I was having issues with 2 new Judges at the time. They were an A1 company on service issues 10 years ago; don't know what's happened. And it's not just me. I'm hearing complaints from lots of people.

I sent my model 94 for repair and it took 3 months, then it broke again and I sent it in and demanded they make me happy-they said refunds were out of the question so we asked if they can just give me a 9mm pistol instead-the guy said it was likly but he would ask his supervisors and call us back in a couple of days.Days later we called-no response-weeks later we called and our calls were ignored-then a couple of days later I got a package in the mail-guess what-it's my old model 94!

Good luck dealing with a Brazilian company at this time - they are on an anti-American rant because of the current politics there. It will take some time, but I am sure that this will all clear up - especially after the next national election.

Taurus/Rossi products will be supported as they come from a "more stable" part of the country where quality and reputation mean something.

I do not have a crystal ball, but I imagine things will calm in a short time - JMHO

With the Pachmayr Compac grips on my 462, it looks for all the world like a last generation Detective Special Colt, except for the thumb latch. I don't have a photo ready to post yet.

Here's a left and right pic of the 46202 with the Packmayr Compact grips installed. Looks much better than the factory grips and now will completely hide in your back jean pocket. I know, my gun doesn't shine. I had the high polish finish converted to a brushed finish. ROSSI 462 grips-46202-left.jpg

Looks good!! I like the satin finish. The finish on my 462 is still shiny; but the quality of the finish is much better than some I've seen over the years on S&W's and even Rugers. I bought an NIB S&W 36 in 1987. It still had the waxey, smudgy stuff on it from the factory. I got it home and cleaned it and saw waves and ripples all in the finish! I sent it to S&W for a refinish, and it came back not much better!
So far, I'm pleased with my "no good" 462; it carries up and locks properly, and shoots where I'm looking. From your You Tube video, it appears that you like yours, too.

Rosi's are polished and finished better than any other factory produced gun on the market. Mine shoots where you look also as long as you feed her 158gn bullets. I'm going to get a blued version also and have the trigger and hammer colored case hardened. Should look great.

I also have a Rossi M92 16" stainless 357 lever gun. The finish on both wood and metal is excellent, and the gun functions very smoothly. Also, the wood is not very dark like some Rossis I've seen; mine looks like a nice walnut wood.
