Springfield 53B .22 Cal

I am acquiring my grandpas old Springfield 53B .22. Does anyone know anything about these rifles? I will have pictures within a couple weeks. I know the barrel needs some cleaning but I think the stock is pretty good. I just like knowing some history behind stuff.

A good basic economy-grade Savage/Stevens/Springfield design from the 30s/40s. Nothing special about them, but they are generally good shooters.
When I get back home I will check my Gun Value books and get more info.

Got some pictures finally...

Very fun to shoot. Me, a friend and my dad were all shooting it up to thirty yards and could hit a two inch target (mainly at 20yards).

I want to clean the bolt on it, is there something I could let it soak in?

Mineral spirits is safe, and should do well.

I have a 53B that fires when I close the bolt. Any ideas what may be wrong?
