Ice Storm '09

Man this storm was a doozy!!! We probably got at least 3" of rain with about 1-2" freezing on everything. Craighead Electric is our power company and they said they had 2-4 THOUSAND utility poles down. I have power here at work but still dark at home.

I know guys like A.H. up in the Ozarks are probably in bad shape. Good luck to you guys and if you need help, let us know.

It looked pretty bad. As we've had similar here in Illinois, but not for sometime that I can remember.

So much for Global Warming huh? lol

I am in Fort Smith and we made out ok but I have been up to Fayetteville and Springdale the last 2 days and they have it alot worse. My friends up in Mountain Home havent had power since Monday night and are being told it may be 3 weeks before they see power

Thanks WindWalker! So far we are fine just kinda bored with no t.v. or internet access. (im at work now). But in some ways its cool to get away from all the modern conveniences for a while. One thing Ive learned is that Im not as prepared for emergencies as I'd like to be. Im using this as a learning opportunity and making a list of things to have before the next emergency hits.

Texarkana missed it this time. Thankfully, didn't want 2000 all over again. Went w/o power or water (on a well) for a week. Love that wood stove though!

It'll be a week tomorrow without power for us. Our gas firelog is a lifesaver!! I heard today the the power company that we are on lost around 10,000 utility poles!!

I found some pictures from our neck of the woods (north of Eureka Springs) ice storm. We had about 2 inches accumulated on flat areas (deck/deck rail), but trees didn't appear to have that much. We were lucky in that we only lost power twice, Tues for about 1 hr and Fri for about 6 hours.
