Depends on where you go.
Elk, deer and antelopes are very common.

I think what is most popular, depends where you live in the USA.
As a nation, I believe the Whitetail Deer is the most hunted biggame animal.

Welcome from across the big pond. White tail deer are the #1 hunted big game animal in North America. I don't know the stats on the rest but I would suspect that elk would be second followed a close second by antelope and mule deer close in there would be wild turkey, bear, moose and caribou.

well for bear population the north west probably has the biggest population of bear, but There are bear in most of the states that touch Canada. But then again Alaska might have more bear than northwestern 48 states.

Plenty of bears in NY.
Got the Adirondacks, they love it there.
I heard the lions, or something of that type of cat, are coming from PA up to NY.

Overall-Whitetail Deer
Depends on where you hunt, the animal varies.
But above I mentioned a few of the main ones.
Down south you can hunt wild hogs if you wish.

black bears are common throughout North america, some states allow their harvest, some don't. the big bears are out West . Alaska has lots of both. over all in the U.S, I would say that white tail deer is the most hunted big game animal

Around these parts, SE ID,...

...it's probably a toss up between deer and elk for big game hunting, with deer slightly ahead in number harvested.

Several folks here also hunt antelope, moose and bear...

White tail deer are abundant here in New York. Black bear in the Adirondacks and in the Southern Tier. We have some moose but there is no season on them, strictly off-limits. Alot of small game and plenty of waterfowl...

That depends on what part of the country you're in. Around here deer are big game. Actually the biggest natural game animal since bears aren't legal and Elk are imported and only found on private game preserves. They get to be a pretty good size too.
