Living up here in the Northeast, the Blue States where most of the military bases have been downgraded or closed, we almost never have a chance to see airshows any more. But when I was a kid, the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels used to tour through at least once a summer and I'd always wheedle my mom and dad to take me to see them.
One major change between then and now is that the vertical stabilizer on Thunderbird Four is clean. Back in the days when they were flying F-100 Super Sabres and F-4 Phantoms, you could always spot Thuderbird Four by the black tail fin. I guess that's the difference between turbojet and tubofan engines.
I like Air Shows. They have a really nice one every July here in Dayton Ohio. Travis Air Force Base is where I out processed when I got out of the Air Force. Thanks for the pictures. Years ago we went to Myrtle Beach and just as we checked into our Ocean Front room the Blue Angels did a show right over the beach. It was awesome.
