Looking for some input on the ruger mini-30's seen one at a gun show a few weeks ago&was giving it some thought, but have not seen any 10-20 round magazines for it.and then I have a little concern with malfuncation's with high cap mags.like I am having with my SKS.

I had one with 3 30 round mags. Never had a malfunction with it. Good rifle. Never did test it at range for accuracy though. I just used it to waste ammo up close.

I don't have any experience with the mini 30 but had a mini 14 and loved it...despite what is always said about accuracy mine had decent accuracy (for plinking anyway...~2 in. groups). Also could find mags all over, only place i got any was cabelas 20 rnd mags and they worked perfectly. I personally woudl get a mini 14 over a 30 just because i like 223 better than 7.62x39, but either way i don't think you can go wrong for a good, reliably plinker. (or even for close range hunting)

Ruger never sold any high capacity magazines for the mini 30, but there are many other companys making higher capacity magazines out there. A lot of the after market high cap mags have problems with the newer 581 or later series mini 30's due to some small tolerance changes made by Ruger when they re-tooled mini production in 2006. The new mini's are more acurate but the older high cap mags may not work with out some modifications to the magazines.

In my humble opinion, if you have a SKS then keep it and don't buy the Mini 30. I had one and the effective range and ballistics, just like the SKS didn't suit me. Buy you a Mini 14. It is a fun gun for sure.
