+1 Gandog and +1 Gunz. I don't know why but I just like the Tulas better too. I have more Izzy rifles but thats just how it is. If you are down to your last two you have picked to choose from, select the better bore unless you already have a bunch and are looking for a specific arsenal.

I have an Izzy, I shot a few boxes of rounds through it a few years back. Its a fun little gun to get out and shoot. I really don't know much about them. But they are cool looking.
And there is so much more to learn too. But the nice thing about it, is there are so many people here that know so much, you can learn from them too I am still learning new things.

I've got a tula, my brother has an izzy. His bore is a little better, and his original trigger was better than my original trigger. His gun had more machine marks left on it than mine did. His barrel is ribbed, mine is smooth. His also has a high wall receiver, which I would prefer to my low wall.

I have both and I don't really have a preferance. My Izzy is a 1948 M44 and it shoot really well with the bulgarian surplus ammo. All of the numbers match and the bore is extremely clean with sharp lands and grooves (.301"-.313" to be exact). My 1940 Tula shoots really well with my handloads but does not do so great with the bulgarian surplus but the lands and groves are a little worn and I had to refinish and reblue the rifle because of the condition that it was in. It has a bore size of .303"-.315". My 1939 Tula SA marked finn capture does Ok with the surplus ammo but I havn't loaded for it yet or slugged the barrel. I do like this one a little more than the other two just because it was a finn capture and it was redone with the finnish modifications. So really, if you are looking into getting one, I would just try to find one with a very good bore and a smoth action. The ones made between the wars during peace time seem to be better made because they weren't a rush job and a lot of people like the hex recievers more than the round ones. All of mine are round so I couldn't judge on that. Anyway, good luck in your search!

Well cremley you will want to get a hex now I finally got my first hex, a 1925 Izzy Ex Dragoon rifle, and boy does it shoot good. I think it would give my Finn Mosins a run. You can't just have all rounds. I finally got my hex, and it turns out that I acquired 3 more that just happened to be hex rifles. 2 of them Finns.

I know, I have been wanting one but I would have to sell one of the others. I saw one at the gun shop that I usually go to and they were selling it for $230!!! It was an Izzy but nothing special about it. I bought my Yugo SKS in perfect condition with night sights for $200 at the same time I saw that one. I also bought my $100 M44 from them as well so I don't know what they think is so special about it. It will probably sit there for a very long time would be my guess.
